in one of his interviews he said something like "the football gods didnt want us to win"

what was he referring to? was he referring to the NFL owners? the top guys who control the game?

if you watched the AFC and NFC game the way the two teams lost were fishy.

So is Jim Harbaugh trying to say something about the NFL?

I definately heard someone on ESPN say "Im not saying the NFL is fixed, but that was a fumble.." reffering to Bradshaws forwad progress being stopping and then getting it stripped.

It most certainly is a fumble, if they didn't blow the whistle for forward progress.

Well the refs certainly wanted the Packers in the NFC champ game but the Giants wouldn't allow it because the are a better caoched team and a better team talent wise overall.

Maybe if Harbaugh coached his team like TC did then the fumble doesnt happen. How is a forced fumble on STs fixed?? How is a botched play by his punt returner fixed? Maybe he should have stuck with the run which was working great. Maybe his QB and offense can complete more than one pass to a WR and get more than 1 third down conversion......How is Eli getting like 3 late hits and at least two helmets to his back and not flagged a fix???

**** you Harbaugh......BTW....the next time you lose man the **** up and respect the other coach and shake his hand like you give a****....

I thought I heard the whistle right as he fumbled. I could be wrong, haven't rewatched it.

Still, I think if a ball carrier is still on his feet, forward progress or not, it should be a fumble. It's a stupid rule imo.

From now on that is.

Perhaps he was referring to the Kyle Williams fumbles being an act of god. The way those two teams lost may have been fishy despite being close games from start to end. You might be on to something, but the guys who control the result of those games might be monitoring this thread so I'll just stop here. If they ever find out, I will pray for you...

You're a moron. The forward progress rule is designed to stop exactly what you want to happen. One guy holds the runner and the other strips. Football is tackling. It's the right call in every way, the rule is a good one and one of footballs oldest. Suck it up whiner.

I do believe that if the situations were reversed we'd all be pissed about that no fumble.

but ive been complaining about the refs blowing the whistle too soon for years. No body cares

The whistle was blown well before Bradshaw began to lose the ball, so that theory is out.

Not at all. I've seen this a thousand times for and against the Giants. I can't believe this is an issue it's so cut and dry.

Well the situations are what they are. The football gods didn't want the Colts to win the SB two years ago. The football gods wanted Elway to get a couple rings. The football gods punished John Harbaugh for abusining his OC like a rented mule on the sidelines near the end of their game. I hope the football gods favor the G-Men on Feb. 5.

If he thinks its rigged what about holding penalties that weren't called against them. I can go on and on in DETAILS what his team got away with.

Did you actually read what I said, I thought I heard the whistle right as he fumbled. Which means the plays over. No fumble. I'm not whining about anything. If having an opinion makes me a moron, than so be it. That call could have easily been ruled a fumble. My point was, if the ball comes loose before the whistle it should be a fumble. Why would I be whining when the call went our way and we one the game d bag.

BTW someone should remind Harbaugh what happened in 2002. Maybe that'll shut him up, actually the whole fanbase.

My apologies I thought you were another troll. I respectfully disagree with your assessment of the rule. Players should be trying to tackle the ball carrier not hold him securely til the ball can be stripped. It is a good rule.

*
Exactly, I am checking the replay of the game and the first KW fumble, you can clearly see that the ball changes direction off of his knee. And secondly, the JW forced fumble was just a sick play made by him and Thomas contributing on special teams with crazy hustle and making any kind of impact of on this game was huge. Some guy on NFL.com was calling the Gianst win luck. Regular season, Ill agree, Post season, its destiny, Ill take it all day like SB win #2, Wide right baby, gimme mines!

This year the Giants have had the short end of the "lucky breaks" stick. That has made their wins more impressive.

I don't disagree that its a good rule, the ruling that forward progress had stopped was called really quick on that play. Just my opinion. I believe the call could have went either way. The correct call was made. The losers (in this case the niners) need something to hang on to. Now that I reread what I posted earlier, I can see how you thought that. My apology back.

Forward progress rules are so dumb. You should be able to pick a guy up and carry him backward for as much of a loss as you can get. And while you're at it, you should be able to wrest the ball from him while you're preventing him from going to the ground. Can't you do that in Rugby?
