I wouldn't characterize KP as merely an "okay" or "solid" safety. This year he's been one of the best in the league.

And some/many folks on these boards wanted to fire Jerry Reese because he was not signing a bunch of names on the back of jerseys instead of good players. Free agents are free (from their teams) for a reason.

I love insight like this -- why our archrivals are so mediocre. It's almost like Andy Reid is a Giants' fifth column. </P>

They do funky stuff every draft, and it seems like whatever move the Eaglesmake the experts are always praising them to the sky -- every draft pick and every FA signing...every.single.one. You'll see it again this off seasonand draft.</P>

The eagles are very chummy with the national media. They play up to them so they do get a good vibe from national media and the nation itself.

The local medai always compains how friendly that organization is to the national media and how nasty they are to the local media.

yeah i think fans lose sight of this ... they just assume that all the other teams in the NFL are drafting All Pros and we are drafting All Joes ... it's really a crap shoot ... whenever a player comes good, it should be props to the organization

you know they should do some scientific analysis of the draft results ... i know it gets tough b/c worse teams get higher picks and their picks are more likely to play, but there has to be someway to statistically quantify how well an organization is doing via the draft

People also forget that we have a very talented roster so not many people are going to make the team. Outside of Lber and OL, the chances of a draft pick making an impact immediately is small - let alone making the team.</P>

I'm assuming that it also has to do with the Eagles always seemingly drafting or signing "play makers" -- i.e. Vick, Jackson, Maclan, McCoy, Asomghua (sp.?) but they seem to do a horrible job on all the other positions. The national media just focuses on the playmakers because everybody loves highlight plays.</P>

The even worse part about Maclin and Graham is that the Eagles traded up and leapfrogged the Giants to make them. The Giants stood pat during those drafts. They also traded down the year they picked Kiwanuka.

The Giants Team draft more for depth than a need. When everyone says that the Giants need a particular position and the Giants draft elsewher, that is why they generally gets low draft grades directly after the draft. Because they do not draft from a standpoint of we have a weakness here because they trust what they have will suffice and draft players that they have studied and like.

GM is almost as bad as the OC for being a victim of the Fickle Fan Brigade (me being one of them).

Despite their lack of 1 round home runs, what that article fails to mention is that the Eagles' have been one of the most winning franchises in the NFL for the past decade.

While that doesn't help those in Philly that are on a Championship jones, it's not like they've been the Lions all this time.

Perspective is key.

P.S. - Want to compare LBer draft picks LOL

It's the best way to do it -- pretty much best player / talent available at the drafting spot. You may look like your deep in an area, and then injuries and FA wipe that out.</P>

IDK about that, the article is very acurrate since the Eagles traded Kolb for DRC AND traded away a pick to get Peters. I'd say that's pretty good use fo your draft picks if you getting those caliber of players. </P>

With all of the trades they've done over the past fews years, it's allowed them to net Jackson, Peters, DRC and I think they traded down to get McCoy. That's a pretty good stable of players to go with Jackson and more than alot of teams get from their top picks. </P>

Tell that to the Bills.

You can have all the talent in the world and still lose (ala the 2007 Patriots).

Part of winning Super Bowls, especially close ones is luck. Pure and simple as that.

You think the Eli throw to Tyree was a designed play? Lol.

Drafting talent is only part of the equation and not nessecarily the biggest part. The Patriots won 3 SBs with a roster that virtually no one ever heard of. Even this SB has only 8 Pats that were on the '07 team (we have twice that number).

Scheme, coaching and luck all play some determining factors.

With regards to the Eagles, if you put up a play off calibre team year after year, you definitely better your chances to make and win a Super Bowl. The Eagles have done that ... unfortunately they haven't gotten all the way there yet. They will sooner or later.

Even the Red Sox managed a World Series again eventually.

Great article about how the Eagles have stunk up the draft. I remember for years they could not draft a proper offensive lineman, you guys remember Antone Davis (92) and Lester Holmes (93)?

He has 19 TDs in his first three years.<span class="Apple-converted-space">*</span></span><br style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><br style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><span style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important; float: none; ">Awesome, finally the Eagles are going to win one.<span class="Apple-converted-space">*</span></span><br style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><br style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><span style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important; float: none; ">Not so fast.<span class="Apple-converted-space">*</span></span><br style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><br style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); "><span style="color: rgb(37, 37, 37); font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; letter-spacing: normal; line-height: 21px; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); display: inline !important; float: none; ">The Giants, with the 29th pick, took Hakeem Nicks out of North Carolina. Traded UP to get Maclin. I'm not pooping on Maclin, but the Eagles make too many moves like that.</P>

Wow HUGE Differences. Didnt realize we Whooped them that bad in the Draft. and the Piece was written by a Philly Paper. LOL</P>

Its ture cause here we are 4/5 years later and competing for our 2nd SB Title in 4yrs... What have the Eagles done. Oh yes. they gave up on the Draft and went HOG Wild in FA to try and buy a SB Title.... How did that work out for EM.... LOL</P>

And some/many folks on these boards wanted to fire Jerry Reese because he was not signing a bunch of names on the back of jerseys instead of good players. Free agents are free (from their teams) for a reason. P.S. - Want to compare LBer draft picks LOL</P>

They are a good franchise and Andy Reid is a big part of it, but their drafting must be a big reason why they haven't gotten over the SB hump yet.</P>

Even the Red Sox managed a World Series again eventually.</P>

Yeah, there's more to it than drafting but the Giants have drafted better than the Eagles for the past 5+ years and it shows. </P>

I agree...Philly plays the draft like a monopoly board...the only problem is...the game is football, not monopoly</P>

We are a few pieces away from having a young, dynamic team. LB would be a logical choice for us in the 1st round this year but it will likely yet again be best available player...if a guy like RBTrent Richardson falls to us, we are fools to not take him. We do need an RB that is capable of making something happen in the run gameif our blockers can't. Plus he can catch which is key in a passing league.</P>

good info

yeah i think fans lose sight of this ... they just assume that all the other teams in the NFL are drafting All Pros and we are drafting All Joes ... it's really a crap shoot ... whenever a player comes good, it should be props to the organization</p>

you know they should do some scientific analysis of the draft results ... i know it gets tough b/c worse teams get higher picks and their picks are more likely to play, but there has to be someway to statistically quantify how well an organization is doing via the draft</p>

I would argue that their "poor" drafts haven't effected their win percentages.

2011) 13-3
2010) 14-2
2009) 10-6
2008) 11-5
2007) 16-0
2006) 12-4

I'd say if anything, BB is proving that the draft don't mean squat.

In 2009, they got Maclin ahead of Nicks (advantage: Giants) and McCoy below Clint Sintim (advantage: Eagles). That was it. Everything else was pretty much garbage for them. lol
