View Full Version : What do you think Reese's priorities should be in the offseason?

I hear alot about how Manningham could be gone next year, and I think that would be a huge mistake. The Giants need to keep Manningham on this team....this is arguably the best group of receivers in the NFL right now.

I hope they step up for Manningham and give Osi the extension he has earned

this group is tight, keep those two has to be a priority.

Try to resign Blackburn to a short term deal

After we get the resigning over with, we need to work on the O-Line.

Resigning Manningham. This is unlike the Smith situation with Smith coming off surgery. Manningham wants to stay and a deal will probably be worked out.

We need OLine help.

We are going to need some healthy TEs.

Blackburn should be given a contract.

Osi should be given an extension.

Sign Osi. He's more than earned it. Reese was lucky he manned up and played this year the way things went last off-season. Set an example and show the rest of the team that if you step up and play your rear off you will be rewarded and appreciated.

We need an actual LB besides Boley. Sure Blackburn held his own, But the Greg Jones experiment hasn't panned out, and Goff is too injury prone to be trusted, that is if he is actually re-signed this offseason.

Hopefully sign Mario, but we could probably live with a lesser No. 3 WR.

Having a great draft is the best thing he can do because he's really not going to be able to spend a lot of money again.

I am hoping they get a good center via Free agency or Draft. Hopefully the Center for the Chargers Hardwick doesn't retire and we could sign him, he would be a 100% upgrade from the horrible Baas. We overpaid him and he's useless. I would move Beatty over to RT and then draft a LT with our 1st RD pick I hope that Mike Adams is there the man just manhandled the DE's in the senior bowl. If Adams is not available I would like them to draft a TE first choice would be Dewayne Allen he is like Antonio Gates he's got great athletic abilty and still did good with a poor quarterback. If not Allen i'd like Coby Fleener reminds me alot of Jeremy Shockey but without the B.S.

We have no TEs on the roster for 2012 aside from Beckum who will not be ready to play untill well into the season if at all.

I think that makes TE a top priority. Even if we resign Ballard and Pascoe, we still need depth at the position.

Osi is the lucky one. His *** could of been shipped off to the Rams, and still wouldn't have got paid that much. Reese did a masterful job in regards to that situition. IF the cap permits it, he should get a raise. Osi is not the biggest priority this offseason, maybe not even the defense.

Hmm I think Ballard has 2 bad knees and he can't be trusted as a starter maybe as a back up.
We can't afford Finleyhe's probably in the top 3 TE's in the game. My best move via free agency would be to try and sign Center Hardwick from the Chargers and MLB D'Qwell Jackson from Clevland he was 2nd in tackles and would be a major upgrade on our team.

I would like to see Reese take care of our own FAs. If Manningham and Osi can be resigned at a reasonable deal, I'm all for it.

I think the Giants will offer Goff and TT a 1 yr deal coming off their injuries.

After that, whether through FA and/or the draft, Reese should address TE, O-Line, LB and CB.

I think the priority SHOULD BE on a new O-line and at least one new RB because IMO Jacobs is done.

As for Manningham, he's going to deserve #1 status and pay and he's our #3 WR. Nicks is coming up soon and Victor Cruz is making pennies. Both of those guys deserve money and Manningham gets fed after those two do. So I think Mario goes elsewhere, unless he's such a great team player he will play here for less.

I see Manninham taking the payday somewhere else as a #1 and we just let a bench player or new draft pick fill the void. Maybe Barden gets his shot.

Plus, people forget apparently, we're ALREADY IN CAP HELL.

Tuck is playing on a bargain contract (and unlike Osi keeping his mouth shut about it) and is going to deserve money.
JPP needs to be locked up to a 10 year $250 million contract PRONTO.
Cruz needs to be locked up long term too.

A lot of our productive stars are making WAY below what they are worth and need to be rewarded.

TT was REALLY productive when healthy, and I think he will come back at a reasonable one year "prove your healthy" deal. Also, he gave Steve Smith crap on Twitter for leaving for the Eagles last offseason, and he would look like a bit of a hypocrite if he did the same thing this year. Aaron Ross...as much as I like him, and respect how his game stepped up this year, he's going to be 30 in September, and we have Prince Amukamara ready to step up to the plate. Ross is expendable if he wants a higher cap salary, as most Super Bowl champions seek in free agency. Manningham needs to be retained because you need to be three deep at receiver in this league now, especially considering our question mark at the tight end position. The way I see it, Reese won't be in the mood for another Mexican standoff with Osi this offseason, coupled with the emergence of the beast that is JPP, Reese ships him off for a 2nd or 3rd round pick on draft day. Jacobs might be in the same boat as Osi. Linebacker, offensive line, and tight end could all use some athletic personnel upgrades as well.

2014 - Nicks, Tuck, Boley, Webster, Joseph

Fix the OL and the running game. Teams, especially in the NFC East, will be focusing on stopping the great passing game the Giants had this year.

If the Giants could once again have a dominant running game it will confuse other teams. What do they stop? Focus on the running game and Eli will beat them. Focus on the passing game and now with a new and improved OL the running game will eat the clock and beat the defense up.

I think we have to keep Jacobs, Blackburn, Ross/T2, Tolly, Weatherford, Ugoh, Devin Thomas, Tryon

I think we have to let go Mario, McKenzie, Ross/T2, Bernard, Grant, Goff, Andrews, Kennedy, Blackmon

on the fence about Carr, I really liked what I saw out of RP. He has been our rag doll all year..

We also need to extend, Osi (at a reasonable price), Cruz, and extend either Phillips or Nicks since they are going to be FAs.

Then I think we need to also sign a nice 3rd receiver at a value price.

I think you wont see alot of current and IR players on next seasons Team

1) MM - That catch he made in the SB sealed the deal. We cant afford to resign him now

2) Jacobs - He wants to be an every down Back, TC will never allow that. bye and Thank BJ

3) TT- I dont think we would have been able to resign him had he not got hurt. Now we have shot

4) Hixon- Best KO/PT specialist we have every had. But he cant stay heathly.. Hello JJ

5) Beckum - Saw flashes during the season finally but not enough after a Torn ACL to keep him

6) Barden - Depending on what happens with MM he and Devin may compete for 3rd spot. but bye

7) Ross - With Prince getting a full off season I dont see us re signing him..

8) M. Austin - He will get offseason and training camp to prove he can play, if not bye

9) Goff - He was a disapointment up till this offseason. He will compete with the young guys..will see

10) Sintum - Like Barden never amounted to anything.. i think he will be released

11) Paysinger/Jones - these 2 will compete with the 2 above-- think they have a shot to stick

12) Blackburn - W/O him we prob dont get through season and playoffs. but age...maybe 1yr deal

13) Grant - age durability... Maybe 1yr deal

i think ur offbase about Jacobs. I think that feature back thing is an old argument. He just wants more than 2-3 touches a game, which I am fine with.

from what i've heard from T2's crowd hes still looking for a nice contract that im not sur ethe Giants would give.

I think Hixon is going to hang em up. If he doesnt he'll be at vet min and i'd welcome him back

Beckum won't be around. Wasn't a fan of the guy, sucks the way he went down. I feel bad for him.

With the way Ross played this year, i think he may of outpriced himself. I would welcome him back wtih open arms

Marvin Austin won't be cut after this year no matter what.

OLine and LB and CB in draft

agreed with this statement minus the CB. I think we have a deep secondary with Ross/TT/webby/Prince/Rolle

I think we need to get into RB honestly. We need more health in the backfield. I LOVE Bradshaw and BJ and what they bring to the team but they are going on their last legs and we are legit running them into the ground. We could use someone to learn from them and be better. Need Osi, nothing can be said on how he has missed games yet produced when he was on the field. A rotation of 3 amazing DE (Tuck/JPP/Osi) should be a standard for us. You can even add TE in there because who knows what is going to happen with Travis/Ballard and their injuries.
