Beltran and Ellsbury have both been consistent averages in their careers....so we lose Cano, but get them....saying you want batting avg is easy to say....there just arent as many players who do it anymore. it's a pitcher's game as of late.
Like I said though, he fell off at the end of last year. I wouldnt take a 75 million risk. A lot of good players come here and hit a wall. His average playing in the AL is .206, 277 in NL. Nooo beuno

Gardner's .268 is phenomenal all of a sudden??

We know what we have with Bret.
Id rather .270 hitter than take a chance on a guy who bats .206 in the AL

            • The guy is also 32. We have to be the oldest team in baseball. We need youth.

Brandon Phillips, Pizz is right, I just breezed through his stats and saw 4 years in Cleveland.

His avg. did take a dive at the end of this season though. Hes 32..... I dont think hes worth a 75 million risk.

I say sign 'em all Yankees.
Set your franchise back even further.

                        lol....

If anything Gardner would have been a break even deal. Gardner is cheap, but he's literally only worth his money since he cant seem to get the OBP to make him a REALLY valuable asset. If he didnt get hurt in 2012, THAT would have been the year for him. he had quite the pace going.

If they ARE going to trade him, it's gonna be for an SP now. That's now a bit more clear to me.
They are still going to try to get Tanaka, no doubt...at that point, the only risk is the money, not other players involved. He's young, so that'd be the better move.
