Really not an issue for the supreme court IMO.

Of course not but the argument among progressives is that all of the sudden, healthcare is a "right". That is nonsense.

It's just something to say to make them feel better.

"Sir, I was wondering: did you happen to catch the professional football contest on television last night?"
          "No...I didn't."
"Oh it was most exhilarating: the Giants of NY took on the Packers of Green Bay and in the end the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big H. It was a most ripping victory."

Besides the judge, most of the folks I talked to were just sick of politics as usual and wanted a big time shake up, and they were willing to take a risk on Trump.
But Trump is a fool. I've never seen so many self inflicted wounds in such a short time. The thought of bringing in an outsider wasn't a bad one. He was just the wrong outsider.
            this...

It's not constitutional, but I really doubt "universal healthcare" was a thought when the constitution was created.

Don't worry guys, one day we'll figure it out.....

Even if it was a thing when the Bill of Rights was created, it would not have been included. Universal healthcare runs counter to most of the ideas around the BoR. Which mostly supports personal freedoms and responsibility and universal healthcare removes choice and freedom from your options. If the supreme court were forced to rule on this based on the constitution and bill of rights, the only logical response would be to label universal healthcare as unconstitutional. Luckily the whole concept is none of their business.

Plus you can't guarantee a right that requires money to fulfill. There is never a certainty that the money will always exist for it.
The Bill of Rights is essentially the claim of the citizen's of their rights the government cannot abridge. "Rights" are not bestowed on the citizens by the government. They are claimed by the citizens. And the Bill of Rights is a direct order from the people TO the government that the state can never take them away.

I said back when it looked like the primaries was going her way that we would have a republican president no matter who got the nomination. Sanders though would have been as much of a mess as either of the other two. His tax and spending program would have had lower middle class sending 65% of their income to the goverment and it would only go up from there. Nothing he wants would ever pass congress, even if 100% of both were democrats and we should all be thankful for that.
I agree... I preferred Bernie to Hillary and was in a quandary when he lost.
I believe that Bernie would have beaten Trump. I think many of the "democrats" who wanted Bernie turned around and voted for Johnson or Donald. I also think many Independents would have voted for him over trump, and over Hillary.
Bernie's programs were a big problem. No way he was going to improve so many 'socialist' programs (which scared people who never understand that welfare and Social security are socialist programs) without reducing the Military budget significantly... which, as a dove, he would have tried to do.
I also think if Bernie had beaten Hillary, and then Trump, he would now be dead of an unfortunate heart attack, etc. There's no way anyone is going to turn this country around from spending 700 billion a year on the military complex without severe repercussions... read that, 'accidental' death.

As much of a nightmare as Hillary was I would prefer her to Bernie. I can't think of a single legit candidate I have seen since I've been following politics (about 50 years) that would be as big of a disaster as Bernie Sanders would.
He knows nothing of economics. Knows nothing of what has always made America great. He would have destroyed this country.

Actually he wouldn't have accomplished anything that he wanted to, so he wouldn't have destroyed anything. We would have 4 years of nothing getting done, even if every single elected member in congress were democrats. I don't think he understood basic math, forget creating a budget that could accomplish his goals. Now if he got his way, then yes, he would destroy this country and it would take darn near a century to recover.

I guess you're right about that. I guess what I should have said is .."if he got his way.....".

I have a feeling that we would have watched Bernie slowly lose his mind over 4 years if he had been elected.
