Pearl Jam being commercially more popular, means precisely **** to me. Popular means nothing to anyone other than the people who like it.
Like I said, my dad liked Pearl Jam....my dad doesn't know anything about the early 90s Seattle scene. I quite literally don't see the similarities between some of those bands and pearl jam any way, other than their hometown.
Liking music and "knowing about" music are two different things. they actually have nothing to do with each other.
Music is written, arranged, recorded and played for people who don't "know" anything about music.
    It's supposed to entertain you.

Since you teach music, Joe - you probably know that distortion was introduced accidentally by a guitar player named Paul Burlison, who played in a rockabilly band called the "Rock N' Roll Trio". It was 1956, and the song was "Train Kept a Rollin'" - later a Yardbirds and Aerosmith staple, and my favorite to crank a halftime of all Giants games.

Just wear headphones and your parents won't hear what you are doing in the basement.

Yeah - something in the amp was damaged, and everyone went crazy for it. Most of the rockabilly songs I've heard are pretty cool.
