Nice! Some of those guys are a little before my time, but nice picks.

I gotta admit I hate it a little when Morehead nails NY sports teams better than NYers.

I grew up a Rangers fan. That only changed when the Whalers moved 3 miles from my house.
Other than the Giants, the NY Rangers of the late 60's and 70's are my favorite sports team of all time.

I can probably still recite the top 3 lines and top 4 defensemen of those teams.

And because of this, my most HATED team in all of sports is the Boston Bruins. If you were a Whalers fan you hated the Bruins as well.
But the 1972 will always be etched in my mind. Any Rangers fan back then will tell you that the greatest hockey player that will ever live is Bobby Orr.

His level of greatness has never been seen since and I doubt ever will.

I used to go to Whalers games with a buddy of mine who lived in Bristol, CT. That was back before that town got ruined by ESPN. I only vaguely remember Orr as I didn't get into hockey until I got into my teens so my frame of reference is that Gretzky is the greatest player I have ever seen. And he still is. But I understand he was an offensive player only and Orr was an absolute killer in both ends of the ice.

My muddah got his autograph a while back when he had a restaurant in the city. Gretzky was there too.

"Sir, I was wondering: did you happen to catch the professional football contest on television last night?"
                    "No...I didn't."
"Oh it was most exhilarating: the Giants of NY took on the Packers of Green Bay and in the end the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big H. It was a most ripping victory."
