  • Eli Manning vs. Davis Webb's College stats

I decided to compare our current with our future QB, to see what their college production was like. Not sure who I thought would have been the better college player, but I did watch a lot of Eli's games because the GMEN were looking for a QB.

    They have eerily similar stats
    Passing - Easy E

    Ole Miss SEC FR QB 6 16 33 48.5 170 5.2 3.8 0 1 85.7
    Ole Miss SEC SO QB 11 259 408 63.5 2948 7.2 7.8 31 9 144.8
    Ole Miss SEC JR QB 13 279 481 58.0 3401 7.1 6.5 21 15 125.6
    Ole Miss SEC SR QB 13 275 441 62.4 3600 8.2 8.5 29 10 148.1
    Ole Miss 829 1363 60.8 10119 7.4 7.5 81 35 137.7

    Passing - D Webb

    Texas Tech Big 12 FR QB 10 226 361 62.6 2718 7.5 7.5 20 9 139.1
    Texas Tech Big 12 SO QB 8 211 345 61.2 2539 7.4 7.1 24 13 138.4
    Texas Tech Big 12 JR QB 5 22 41 53.7 300 7.3 8.3 2 0 131.2
    California Pac-12 SR QB 12 382 620 61.6 4295 6.9 7.3 37 12 135.6
    Overall 841 1367 61.5 9852 7.2 7.3 83 34 137.1

Of course D Webb lost his starting spot, but looking at his numbers, he didn't have to. I like the consistency in D Webbs passer rating.

What was the competition level of the opposition ? One could put up big numbers against bad NCAA teams.

It tells me that Webb and Eli are both good QB's and are quite similar in stats and performance but We already know in Webbs scouting that he has one heck-of-an-arm. I think Webb could very well be a franchise QB as is/was Eli in his beginning.
