  • New York Rangers 2017-2018 Thread...

I guess it's time to start thinking about 2017-18 as the Rangers make a big move. Derek Stepan and Antti Raanta Traded to Arizona Coyotes for DeAngelo and 7th Overall Pick. I love this trade. They pick up a very young highly touted defense prospect and the 7th overall pick in the draft. Stepan always underachieves and has 4 years left on a $39M contract. The Rangers freed up $6.5M of cap space the next 4 years too. Raanta only has 1 more year on his contract and is a UFA next year.

Shattenkirk, outstanding! The back end has been shored up very nicely between re-signing Smith, adding Shattenkirk,, obtaining DeAngelo in the trade, the solid presence of McDonagh and the continued emergence of Skjei. Really good work by Gorton, very pleased with all his moves so far. We even had 2 first round picks. Should be contending again this year.

Not just that they got him, but that the NY native took a legitimate hometown discount to come home as he has desired his entire career. There is word that the Devils offered 6 yr/45mil with full no-trade qualifications. No matter, Shattenkirk wanted to be a Blueshirt and now will be. Tremendous.

This might be the largest hometown discount I've ever seen. He stated that he had a couple of 7 year offers but couldn't pass up playing for the Rangers.

Rangers start 0-1 & Yankees lost Game 1 to the Tribe 5-0 last night to add to the misery of fans of NY Sports teams
Football has been very, very good to us.
After losing seasons 2013-15, the giants put up 11 wins in 16.. they are on way Back
But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-

                  # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
                  2-Washington, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
                  3-San Francisco, Dallas, Denver
                  4-New York Giants!!!
                  5-NE
Let's make it 5 in 2016 so we can be on a LINE NE again!!!

I can't get too upset about the Ranger game. Without the way Varmalov played, the Rangers could have won 7-3.

They look to be in real trouble down 0-2. That loss last night Blowing the 8-3 lead has to be a crusher for them

I can't see them winning 3 in a row against that Indian team.
