It's a bit of a long shot, but follow this logic. Stanton hit 59 homers last year. And he did so playing in Miami, the third-worst home park for right handed home run hitters. He'll be moving to Yankee Stadium which is the third best park for right handed power. According to Fivethirtyeight.com, there's a chance that if Stanton can hit like he did this year--a serious if--while playing in that monstrosity across from the site of the real Yankee Stadium, he could threaten Barry Bonds' single season record of 73 homers."

"There is no doubt that the ballpark switch alone helps, primarily because Stanton is plenty capable of driving the ball to all fields: His 11 opposite-field home runs last season tied for sixth in the majors. Judge, by the way, ranked second with 17."

Yeah its amazing what he did in the ballpark Im Miami.

judge was also playing with a a hurt shoulder, these guys will be scary for pitchers. Sanchez missed some time, didi missed a month and bird practically the entire year. These guys are going to be really difficult for opposing pitchers especially if Torres comes out hitting on all cylinders.

Not to mention saying hello to Fenway Park, Tropicana Field & Camden Yards. All ban boxes in the AL East.

Thats the glass half full outlook. The other outlook is, they all were injured and the odds of all of them staying healthy are pretty slim. Castro even missed a month. All of them were hurt last year.

          Lets hope for the best.

            • Looking at updated payrolls in MLB, top 10 payrolls, we have a lot of money to play with:

The retained $$$ comes from McCann ($5.5m) and now Headley ($500K)

4 of the top 8 teams in payroll are West Coast teams. Crazy.

Isn't Boston still paying Manny Ramirez?

                      • Hughes has been garbage there. Feel bad for him, was one of my favorite Yankees. Drafted him in 2004 same year as Eli.

He was supposed to be the next Roger Clemens...

At least Eli panned out after being drafted in 2004.

Hughes, Joba and Montero were going to be stars for the Yanks. Then reality hit.

                            • Yankees aiming to close Meetings with bang. GM Cashman believes team nearing acquisition of at least one starting pitcher.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- The Yankees have been flying high at the Winter Meetings all week as they enjoy the afterglow of the Giancarlo Stanton trade, and general manager Brian Cashman believes he could soon reach the final-approach stage with at least one of the starting pitchers they covet.

"I think we're just purely assessing all opportunities and trying to see if we can land the plane," Cashman said on Wednesday. "Right now we're circling the airport. We're waiting for clearance on the runway. We've got enough gas in that tank that we can keep circling for a while." Read more.

Yeah, I always rooted for Hughes but he never had that uptick in velocity after getting drafted out of highschool. He did help us win a WS in 2009 by being a really good 7th inning guy.
