  • Red Sox arent going to be easy, I dont care what they did or didnt do. That pitching staff if healthy and on top of their game, is one of the best in the league and can shut down anyone.

MadDog is a moron, but he isnt a Yankee fan so I expect him to poke the bear and try to put the Yanks behind the 8ball already crowning the Yanks before the season started. To me, the Astros are still top dog until they get knocked off. They still have a hell of a team. And as I said, the Red Sox have great pitching which is like an NFL team having a great defense. Anything can happen.

Mad Dog is a SF Giants fan and has been ripping the Yankees for decades. I am not falling for his bs.

        • Aaron Boone says Yankees will ‘try and go slow’ with Aaron Judge

New York Yankees first-year manager Aaron Boone on Wednesday indicated the team will exercise patience with Aaron Judge as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery.

“We’ll try and go slow with him,” Boone said, via Newsday.

Judge is off a fantastic 2017 campaign in which he won AL Rookie of the Years honors and came in second in AL MVP voting. But the slugger underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder in November. Hence, Boone sees no reason to push Judge too hard early on in spring training.

          • MLB is releasing the top 20 MLB players tonight at 9pm on the MLB Network.

Here is a Yankee recap so far:

            99. Chad Green, RP, Yankees
            93. Brett Gardner, OF, Yankees
            74. Didi Gregorius, SS, Yankees
            65. Aroldis Chapman, RP, Yankees
            43. Luis Severino, SP, Yankees
            26. Gary Sanchez, C, Yankees

So we can assume Judge and Stanton are in the top 20. I feel like Severino was too far down the list at 43. Im a bit surprised Tanaka isnt on the top 100 list but he was a bit off the first half last year, although there are some in the top 100 who struggled last year as well. (And they put Ohtani in the top 100 without ever putting on cleats?) I expect him to bounce back this season to be a Cy candidate like in 2016.

Looks good I was thinking the lineup might be

                1. Gardner LF
                2. Hicks CF. ( walks a lot )
                3. Judge RF
                4. Did SS
                5 Stanton DH
                6 Gary C
                7 Bird 1B
                8. Wade 2B
                9. Torreyes 3b

Not sure I like leading off a game with Gardner and Hicks, but interesting. A lot of speed in front of the boppers. I dont think they can put Didi at clean up anymore though either. Bird may be too far down the lineup unless he struggles to start off again. If Bird is healthy, he could be our best hitter as crazy as that sounds.

Not crazy at all. If Bird is healthy, he can have a huge season.

I figured Didi in the cleanup spot to go righty, lefty, righty.

Yankees Prospect Thairo Estrada Shot In Hip In Venezuela

TAMPA, Fla. (CBSNewYork) — Yankees prospect Thairo Estrada was shot last week during a robbery attempt in his native Venezuela, the team said Friday.

Estrada, who turns 22 on Thursday, was wounded in the right hip. Manager Aaron Boone said the infielder is currently with the team at spring training in Tampa and is recovering well, WFAN’s Sweeny Murti reported.

                        -----------

Seems like he got lucky. Could be a all up to the Bigs this season if he is playing well. I heard he is a legit prospect middle infielder.

                        • The rest of the top 100:

                          15. Aaron Judge, OF, Yankees
                          5. Giancarlo Stanton, OF, Yankees

                          https://www.mlb.com/news/mike-trout-...00/c-266463158

The big one that stands out to me is having Josh Donaldson #9. Thats ridiculous. He isnt the 9th best player in baseball. In fact, Judge is better than him.

                          Top 5

                          1-Trout
                          2-Altuve
                          3-Harper
                          4-Votto
                          5-Stanton

                          Hard to argue that one.

Kershaw is the 1st pitcher coming in at #6

Yeah, you can't argue with that top 5 at all. Trout is the best player that I have seen since Barry Bonds.

Year in and year out. Best player I have seen since Bonds as well. Its too bad he signed that extension otherwise he would be wearing pinstripes this season instead of Stanton.

                              • It may still be February, but Gary Sanchez is already tearing the cover off the ball

When Gary Sanchez steps to the plate, baseballs cower in fear -- as they should. He's smashed 53 homers over the last two years, leading all Major League catchers despite playing in far fewer games while crushing the ball as far as anyone. You know, like this one that went 493 feet -- second-longest in the Majors last year:

Well, even though it's only February and Spring Training games have yet to begin, Sanchez's strength is in midseason form. Stepping into the box for batting practice on Sunday, Sanchez went and smashed the cover off the ball. Sure, it's not a "The Natural"-style home run that breaks the lights, but, well, physics and all that.
