    Hope he learns 1B too.
    Hope not. Frazier can rake.

I need to see it before I believe in the hype. Clint gets fooled repeatedly on breaking balls from what I have seen so far.

      • Did anybody hear John Sterling's call on Stanton's home run?

        • Crap... Tyler Wade may have a serious wrist injury after diving for a ground ball. He was having such a good spring.

            all i know is

THAT SWING! fastest bat speed in major leagues..most level bat in MLB....can go the other way ......looks like hes hardly even trying....

he is set up for his best year ever in that NYY lineup. all he need o is play to his potential and hes one of the favorites for league MVP.

has anyone ever gone NL MVP to AL MVP b4? in back to back years?

that would be a crazy record

Tyler Wade told Brian Cashman that he just rolled his wrist, wanted to stay in game. Ice but no tests.

Tyler Wade is laughing and smiling in the clubhouse. So that’s a good sign.

                • Wade OK after rolling left wrist.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Tyler Wade's bid to serve as the Opening Day second baseman nearly took a hit on Saturday, as the infielder exited after rolling his left wrist during the Yankees' 10-3 Grapefruit League victory over the Mets at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Wade was in obvious discomfort after diving for Jose Reyes' sixth-inning grounder up the middle, but the Yankees were relieved to learn that there was no damage to his wrist. Wade will continue receiving treatment on Sunday, and he is expected to play again on Monday evening. Read more.

                  • Joe Girardi never did this....

Aaron Boone forgot to put a pitcher in the game

TAMPA — Among the questions Aaron Boone faced when he was hired despite never having coached or managed was how he would handle game situations in the moment.

On Saturday, he had his first slip-up.

After Dellin Betances pitched the fourth inning, Adam Warren was scheduled to replace him to start the fifth. But a phone call to confirm that decision before the inning wasn’t made and Warren didn’t warm up.

That meant Betances, who was already cooling down in the clubhouse, had to go out and face the first batter in the fifth.

“There was a miscommunication of when we thought Warren was gonna be in and Dellin out,” Boone said after the Yankees beat the Mets, 10-3, at Steinbrenner Field. “I feel like it was pretty aberrational.” Read more.

Report: Yankees to sign veteran 2B Neil Walker

The New York Yankees have reportedly acquired veteran infielder Neil Walker pending a physical, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports.

Walker, 32, was one of the last remaining free agent stars available in this year's slow-moving offseason, and had previously been linked to the Yankees prior to the team's three-way deal that landed them infielder Brandon Drury from Arizona.

Walker has played for three clubs in his nine-year career: the Pirates (his hometown team), the Mets and the Brewers, for whom he's compiled a career slash line of .272/.341/.437 with 130 home runs and 522 RBI.

Walker was a Silver Slugger in 2014, and finished fifth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2010 with the Pirates.

The Yankees appeared to have addressed their infield vacancies with the addition of the aforementioned Drury, himself a second baseman primarily.

Walker has played some third base but has spent the majority of his career at second, indicating that perhaps upcoming prospects like Tyler Wade, Miguel Andujar and Gleyber Torres, who were initially expected to fill those spots on the diamond, might need further polish at the minor league levels.

                      ------------

So now we could have Drury at 3B and Walker at 2B to start the year.

Wade injury must be worse than it seems.

Or we are going with vets over the youth, a move I dont like. We need to see what kids like Wade, Torres and Andujar have.

This move makes Andujar look even more like trade bait.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman continues to prove he's one of the best sports executives

Cashman's signing of Neil Walker is the latest evidence of this

On Monday, the New York Yankees agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth around $5 million with second baseman Neil Walker. Consistently an above-average hitter, Walker ought to permit the Yankees to play Brandon Drury at third base and store prospects Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar in the minors for further seasoning. It's a smart deal the capstone to an offseason that proves Brian Cashman is one of the best general managers in the league.

Cashman has artfully assembled a team that was projected by PECOTA to win 97 games without Walker and has done so while maintaining an elite farm system and payroll flexibility. The Yankees have six prospects ranked in MLB.com's top 100, and they have about $15 million to spare before they hit the collective bargaining tax threshold, suggesting they'll be able to pursue Bryce Harper and/or Manny Machadowithout worrying about stiff overage penalties next winter. Oh, and the Yankees entered the week with a lower payroll than the likes of the Los Angeles Angels and Seattle Mariners -- that despite having a significantly better, deeper roster.

                        -----------

Everyone always said he only can win with an unlimited salary cap and money to just throw around at players. I think the past couple of seasons proved all those people wrong.

That said, THIS SEASON is his defining season. This is 100% his team now. His coach. His players. His strategies.

                        • Tyler Wade went 2 for 3 tonight with a double. Looks like he dodged a major bullet on Saturday, in what looked like a serious injury to his wrist.

                          Whewwwww......

                          • So now they have to decide between Wade and Walker, and it is going to **** a lot of fans off when we send Wade back down to AAA. They have a bunch of IF options now. Wade, Walker, Torres, Torreyes, Didi, Drury, Andujar, Bird, Lind, Austin... I smell a trade coming at some point. We cant keep all these guys.

It appears Gleyber Torres will have to wait to make his debut in pinstripes.

That was obvious. Rough spring and 3 weeks in the minors gains extra year control.
