  • Aaron Hernandez Charged With Murder, Will Be Held Without Bail

    http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/201...th_murder.html

Excerpt: "Former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez has been charged with murder and five separate gun charges stemming from the homicide of Boston semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez, still dressed in the white t-shirt and red shorts he was arrested in around 8:45 this morning, listened calmly as the prosecutor explained the evidence against the former football star. They are intimating that he "orchestrated" the murder.

Lloyd's family was preset in the courtroom, although several members left as the prosecution described his death -- five gun shot wounds from a semi-automatic weapon.

After hearing arguments from both sides -- Hernandez's lawyer referred to the evidence against his client as "circumstantial at best" -- the judge decided to hold Hernandez in jail without bail.

Among the facts gathered against Hernandez, who was released by the Patriots today:" Read more...

I know it doesn't really have to do with the OP directly but it makes you wonder if the Dolphins really do have a chance to win the AFCE now since they have added good talent through the draft and FA while the Patriots have seen two of their top targets move off of the roster and another one dealing with significant injuries. The Patriots are falling apart at the seams.

      Eh, they'll bounce back.

They have Ballard and that other guy who is taking 1st team reps. Shedfield or something?

You think Miami can still win the division? Maybe..

Ballard was our 4th receiving option here and generally didn't face strong coverage. I'm not sure that would be the case now with the Patriots and if you recall how slow he was, man coverage from a safety should blanket him. The Patriots also have Aaron Dobson now that they drafted who is a very promising outside receiver but chemistry generally takes a year to develop. We'll get an idea in the preseason and the first 4 games. I'll predict that the division will come down to the last 2 games though.

I want to hear Tebow's thoughts now that he's on the Pats. Wonder how much insight he had into Hernandez's life when they both at Florida.

The Pats didn't have Gronk or Hernandez for periods of time last season, either. It didn't matter. They always find a way.

This is a solid case that has been presented and that without even having murder weapon. And this was just the a prelim hearing. Imagine what they have held back for the trial. He is going down and Pats dd right thing releasing him prior to charges being filed. However they prob got tipped off prior
Football has been very, very good to us.
After losing seasons 2013-15, the giants put up 11 wins in 16.. they are on way Back
But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-

                      # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
                      2-Washington, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
                      3-San Francisco, Dallas, Denver
                      4-New York Giants!!!
                      5-NE
Let's make it 5 in 2016 so we can be on a LINE NE again!!!

Yeah, but they have Brady and Belichick. That alone guarantees them 10 wins.

Dolphins are up-and-coming, though. I was a huge fan of Tannehill coming out, despite him being the popular choice for that year's "colossal bust" title.

Hey I know this has been said but at least our players only shoot themselves.. I remember going over to over teams boards (including the Pats boards) and they all were having a field day with the plax thing. Just shows we need to just keep still cause what goes around comes around and there has already been about 30 player arrested for one thing or another just since the SB. With the amount of players a team carries from now till the final rosters it's just a matter of when not if some of the with checkered pasts will get into trouble hanging with the old crowd

They had Welker, Branch, and Lloyd, not to mention last year they all of a sudden had a running game for the first time since Bledsoe... which they still have with Ridley in the backfield.

Welker is a loss, but Amendola is a worthy consolation prize. Well, he is until his legs fall off in week 3.

Branch was ineffective, Lloyd, while he did look good on paper, wasn't much better. There's a reason both of those guys are still free agents.

In terms of production, the Pats' running game was pretty much the same as previous years. The only real difference was the increase in attempts - 484 for their top four backs in 2012, compared with 360 for their top four in 2011.

They'll most likely need to slow it down a bit this season. Play the clock more.
