Hey, any of you vets been involved w/ nukes? How about other "special weapons?" I was in the Army during the years 64-68, 3 yrs. in Germany. Over 2 of them were in a nuclear weapons storage and issue company. In '67, I was CO of a conventional ammo co. that handled tons of "special cat." ammo. Pretty interesting. Back in those days, I think the Army was beating Navy except for the Staubach years. At Sandia Base, NM I met several Navy and Marine types. They were great guys. No fly boys in those classes tho'. Here's to all the current people serving our country, and all the vets still with us!

Hooah!!! Thanks for YOUR time In-Service as well !!!! [B]

I was a 19K, M1A1 Armor Crewman (specifically driver then gunner)...

I was also stationed in Germany, Hohenfels which is south closest to Vilseck and Grafeonwehr(sp).

so obviously no nukes, but plenty of 120mm sabot and HEAT rounds plus the obligatory M16A4, M4 carbine, M-9 Beretta, AT-4, Claymore and i even won a Schutzensner(sp) Ribbonby participating in a joint-weapons excercise with the Bundeswehr (German Army) !

Man, I really miss weapons training[]

                The Baloonist

A man is flying in a hot air balloon and
realizes he is lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He
lowers the balloon further and shouts: "Excuse me, can you tell me
                where I am?"

The man below says: "Yes, you're in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field."

"You must be an NCO", says the balloonist.

"I am" replies the man. "How did you know."

"Well" says the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but it's no use to anyone."

The man below says "you must be an Officer".

"I am" replies the balloonist, "but how did you know?"

"Well", says the man, "you don't know where you are, or where you're
going, but you expect me to be able to help. You're in the same
position you were before we met, but now it's my fault."

The Chain of Command

                  ADMIRAL/GENERAL

Leaps tall buildings in a single bound, is more powerful than a
locomotive, is faster than a speeding bullet, walks on water, and gives
                  policy to God.

                  CAPTAIN/COLONEL

Leaps short buildings with a single bound, is more powerful than a
switch engine, is just as fast as a speeding bullet, walks on water if
it is calm, and talks to God.

                  COMMANDER/LT COLONEL
Leaps short buildings with a running
start and a favorable wind, is almost as powerful as a switch engine,
is faster than a speeding BB, walks on water in an indoor pool, and
talks to God if a special chit is approved.

                  LT COMMANDER/MAJOR
                  Barely clears quonset huts, loses
tugs-of-war with a locomotive, can fire a speeding bullet, swims well,
and is occasionally addressed by God.

                  LIEUTENANT/CAPTAIN
Makes high marks when trying to leap
buildings, is run over by locomotives, can fire a handgun without
inflicting self-injury, can doggie paddle, and talks to animals.

                  LTJG/1LT
Runs into buildings, recognizes locomotives two out
of three times, is not issued ammunition, can stay afloat if properly
                  instructed, and talks to himself.

                  ENSIGN/2LT
Falls over door sills when trying to enter
buildings, says, "Look at the Choo Choo.", wets himself with a water
                  pistol, and mumbles to himself.

                  CPO/SNCO
Lifts buildings and walks under them, kicks
locomotives off the tracks, catches speeding bullets in his teeth and
chews them, and freezes water with a single glance. He is God!
