It's always a nice moral victory when you beat the World's champs.
Admit nothing. Deny everything. Make counter accusations.

Red Sox probably got a lot of those, playing against the pinstriped world champs after 27 world championships lol.

Ellsbury really is a special player. I am so glad the Sox don't have him anymore. And the bombers do. Raking.

            OK...That hurt.
            I live amongst those dopes.

You're right though....they were a nightmare to be around 10 years ago.

              • Its still April, but 5 of 7 is nice. And Ellsbury playing how he is against the Sox is very nice as well. Seems like every game he has 2-3 hits vs the Sox.

Essentially throughout his career, Ellsbury has missed huge chunks of time due to injury every other year. he was healthy last year.
He is injury prone which is why the Sox were hesitant to sign him. I think it was a mistake on their part.

I agree. I was very happy when he was hurt over there in Boston. It really hampered the team at times. Lets look at his games played by year:

2007: Rookie year, he only played in 33 games. He hit .353 in 116 ABs.
2008: played in 145 games. He hit .280 that year in 554 ABs and had 50 stolen bases.
2009: played in 153 games. He hit .301 in 624 ABs with 70 stolen bases.
2010: suffered his first major injury and only played in 18 games. By far his worst year health wise.
2011: 158 games played and 660 ABs. He hit .321 with 32 Homeruns and 105 RBIs with 39 Stolen Bases. How did he not win the MVP?
2012: 74 games played. 2nd season with some serious injuries. He hit .271.
2013: 134 games played with 577 ABs. He hit .298 and had 52 SBs.
2014: Played all 22 games so far. He is hitting .337 and on pace for over 60 SBs.

So 2 seasons out of 6 destroyed by injury.

I must say, I was very worried about the 7 year contract to an "injury prone" guy defined by his speed. I do see the first 5 years of the is contract being a solid sign though, IF he stays healthy. After that you would probably see a good decline in production. Im sure his power numbers will start to increase as the temperatures rise in the Bronx. I could see him hitting 20 HRs this year by years end. Love him in center though and on the basepaths.

Its still a huge risk, and I wont be surprised to see him hit the DL this year, I just hope it isnt more than 15 games. The guy is a game changer and worth the risk.
