In all seriousness, it is just a minor league deal. May be an OK lefty middle reliever if he sticks.
Yeah, good luck with that ;-P

He looks like a really good pitcher until he gets a guy or two on base later in the game. Then he melts down you find your team losing by 4 in the 6th inning.

Pelfrey was another Mets pitcher with the same issue. And you can prolly pick him up for the same price.

He would fit right in then here.

But seriously, I want Colon back.

I vaguely recall talking about Colon with other Yankee fans back when I used to go to games and was just growing out of diapers, it seems. Didn't remember him being amazing then, but sure was the past couple of years for the Mets.

Bart's worth every dollar the Braves gave him. He's like the honey badger, doesn't give a ****, just strikes guys out any time, any place.

              • Imagine this starting team in a couple years:

LF Frazier- CF Mateo- RF Rutherford
                3B Andujar-SS Torres- 2B Refsnyder- 1B Bird
C Sanchez- SP Kapriellian - DH Judge

I hope Mateo sticks. Take that CF away from Hellsbury. If won't play 2nd I'm ok with him in center.

Only one year ago, Jorge Mateo was the top overall prospect in the Yankees organization, according to Baseball America. The young Dominican Republic native was pegged as the next star shortstop in the Bronx, boasting a skill set similar to that of Jose Reyes.

Still considered a top prospect within the organization and the number eight overall shortstop prospect by MLB.com, Mateo began slipping down the rankings after a brief suspension for violating an unspecified team policy and some inconsistent play in 2016, which halted his impending promotion from high-A Tampa to double-A Trenton.

With current Yankee shortstop Didi Gregorius entering only his age 27 season and continuing to improve at an impressive pace, many believe the Yankees already had their shortstop of the future…

Then they traded for Gleyber Torres.

However, with too much talent to ignore, the Yankees have begun to explore the possibility of moving Mateo to center field — a move that seems to be a perfect fit considering his blazing speed. Mateo got his first taste of the outfield in the Instructional League a few months ago, and spoke to Bronx Pinstripes back in December about how he plans on having a rebound season in 2017.

Largely considered to be one of the fastest prospects in all of baseball, Mateo believes he can make a seamless transition into the outfield, and is embracing it with a positive attitude as well.

According to Brendan Kuty of NJ Advanced Media, Mateo believes he will see plenty of time in center field this spring. “I like it,” Mateo said, when asked about the transition from shortstop to the outfield. “It’s not too hard.”

                • Top Prospect Gleyber Torres' Meteoric Rise Could Earn Him 2017 Yankees Debut

The people who rate prospects for MLB.com jumped Gleyber Torres from 28th to third on their Top 100 list this year, but they left his ETA to the major leagues at 2018.

They may be right. Torres just turned 20 in December. He played all last season in Class A. As excited as the New York Yankees are about the super-talented kid they got from the Chicago Cubs in last July's Aroldis Chapman trade, general manager Brian Cashman made clear back in November that Torres will start the 2017 season at Double-A Trenton.

"Next year he'll start at Trenton and get introduced to the cold weather of the Eastern League in April for the first time," Cashman told reporters, including George A. King III of the New York Post. "He'll be ready whenever he's ready. I'm not currently thinking about his timeline. Once he has extensive success at Double–A level, you can start doing that. He hasn't taken that step yet."

Notice, Cashman said only that Torres will start the season at Trenton, not that he will end it there.

There's no need for the Yankees to push and no need for them to promise. But if 2017 goes for Torres as 2016 did, why wouldn't he end the season in New York?

The kid is special, and he has already shown he can handle assignments that others his age aren't ready for. Torres was the youngest player in the Arizona Fall League in 2016. He was also the youngest player ever to win the AFL batting title and the youngest to be named the AFL's Most Valuable Player.

"Just keep him challenged," a scout told me in November, when I first wrote about Torres for Bleacher Report.

There's a challenge for Torres this spring, even with the early announcement that he'll begin the season in Double-A. With starting shortstop Didi Gregorius leaving to play for the Netherlands in the World Baseball Classic, there will be innings and at-bats that normally wouldn't be available to a kid who isn't supposed to make the team.

There will be chances for Torres to make an impression—something he has already proved he can do.

                    • Heyman: Romneys, who bid on Marlins, in talks to buy piece of Yankees

The Romney family is bidding to buy a small stake in the Yankees months after their try for the Marlins stalled.

If the deal goes through, it is expected to be $25 million to $30 million per percentage point and thought to be interested in one or two percentage points. The Yankees are valued around $3 billion or more.

Mitt Romney, in response to an earlier version of this story about his potential involvement in a sale, denied that hes involved in the talks in a statement, per a spokesperson. The former governor of Massachusetts, Romney is a lifelong Red Sox fan and is sensitive to being associated with the Yankees after hearing early reaction from Red Sox fans.

However, his family is in talks to buy a small stake, led by his son Tagg and business partner Spencer Zwick through the family company, Solamere Capital. Read more.

When Romney was governor here he was at just about every Red Sox home game. His seat was about 10 rows back on the third base side and he was dead center in the close up shot of a right handed hitter standing in the box.

I hope Hank & Hal are aware of this before they sell him a small percentage of the Yankees.

I think the article suggests that Mitt isn't involved in this. It's some other members of his family.
