• Re: DAVID WILSON THE PICK

EXCELLENT pick by the GMEN - this kid is by far the best RB in the draft...alot of fools trust mayock but glad the Giants do their own proper assessments.

This kid has a heart of a champion, tough as they come, will complement Bradshaw very well. He will be amazing to watch in the years ahead...straight football player. He just needs some work on holding the ball and he will emerge as one of the top RBs in the league.

What? Lol. Mayock thought Wilson was a great pick, and nobody, not even the giants, thought Wilson was the best HB in the draft

        Always easier said than done.

Maybe best offer they got was dropping back 10 spots for a 5th round pick, not worth it, IMO.

Bet teams looked at the guys available there and werent real eager to jump in.

Mayock didn't think this kid was the best in the draft...he was dead wrong!! Richardson was benched behind a better RB now all of a sudden he this unbelievable RB, he was simply a standout among boys...we got a true warrior - same heart as bradshaw (round 7) - this kid will dominate at this level, given he now can give himself to the game full time now.

Giants had Wilson rated as the #2 RB in this draft according to Bob Papa this morning.

I love the pick ... I was more of a Martin fan, but the differences between the two are very coachable and Wilson has tremendous vision and balance (neither of which you can teach).

He's going to be a great pick for us.
I don't always root for the Cowboys but when I do I wear my pink Jessica Simpson edition Romo jersey. (yes I lost a bet)
Talking to Garafolo a bit, he says he was told Glenn was higher on their draft board, does not know if there were other players higher, Wilson was definately higher than Martin however.

He says the giants thought if there was a run on HBs that guys like Pead, Polk, James, etc would all be gone before they picked in the 2nd. They clearly felt the talent drop off after the 2nd round at HB was rather substantial.

Thought Wilson was substantially better than the other HBs remaining, so they pulled the trigger now, rather than missing out on a bunch of HBs they liked by the time their 2nd round pick came up.

Makes sense from that aspect. So its a bit of a reach, but if there is a run on HBs and a bunch go second round, that may have been really their only choice.
This makes it much worse.

Stick to your big board. We had a Guy rated higher that could potentiallyplay rt.

A run on hbs is great for us. A higher rated Guy would most definitely fall to us in the 2nd round if this supposed run on HBs occurs.

Then it makes even more sense to take a HB in the first, if they feel there will be a run on HBs and an OL will fall to them at their 2nd round pick.

I have said this all week and I'll repeat it again.

This entire "BPA" theory is myth. GM's all claim that they go BPA, all of them. Its a crock. JR and every other GM consider need very heavily in the draft. Especially early in the draft.

This is JR's 6th draft. In 4 of those drafts he addressed needs in the first round. Only JPP and Prince were truly PBA picks. Plaxico shoots himself and what do you know...., our "BPA" turned out to be Hakeem Nicks. We desperately needed a safety in 2008 and like nagic or "BPA" just happened to be Kenny Phillips. Same was true with Ross and now Wilson.

These guys (and many of you posters) can thump your chests about being "BPA Purists", but its all nonsense. Yes we in ideal situations will go BPA, but football teams have needs, and its a "win now" league. Don't kid yourselves, need is always a consideration.

Admit nothing. Deny everything. Make counter accusations.

Sounds like there weren't any "steals" at this spot so the pick makes sense. Obviously it would've been nice if somebody was desperate to trade into the spot, but I guess the other GM's saw what Reese saw and weren't willing to give up much.

If you have a great qb. You should just put random rbs on the team. More importantly just a Guy that can catch balls.teams with young qbs should be the ones that target rbs early to help his development.

I wanted Demarco Murray and I wanted Taiwan Jones. Middle round rbs will provide uswith more than enough impact
