  • Baker Mayfield's Official Measurements At Senior Bowl - Height, Hand size, etc

This is coming directly from the Senior Bowl's official twitter account:
    https://twitter.com/seniorbowl/statu...97878564868098

    Height: (6'0 3/8)
    Weight: 216
    Hand: 9 1/2
    Arm: 30 1/2
    Wingspan 73 7/8

I checked several threads and didn't see anyone post this yet! I figured it needs its own thread so people can search for it (using the search function) for future reference. We now know Bake Mayfield's hand size and height, two things that people have wondered. That means he has larger hands than Jared Goff; a QB that was deemed as having small hands (9 inches exactly).

we play with shorter quarterbacks in this league now and people are more comfortable of saying, 'OK, this is a 6-1 guy and this is what we have to do with him' and clearly you're gonna have to build some things around him but, you know, 10, 15, 20 years ago, you know, this is a phobia that scouts and coaches used to have -- oh, 'you have to have the prototypical guy' and all that and, in this day and age, you just don't get those guys. Everybody I've talked to is in love with the personality and they'll see if they can develop the player."

The guys at XM NFL are saying that Mayfield is by far the best QB at the Senior Bowl.
Deny everything. Admit nothing. Make counter accusations.

So, he is taller than 6', unlike some guys who dont like him have stated multiple times, and he has bigger hands than some good QBs in the NFL, I dont think 9.5" is that small no? Plus, he is deadly accurate, can handle the pressure and blitzes, and has a pretty strong arm.

Why dont people like this kid as a football talent again?

Probably just the off the field stuff.

This kid should be great in the NFL, depending on where he goes.

I think Russell Wilson hand bigger hands though, like 10+"

Favre’s hands were measured by the NFL years ago (from thumb tip to pinkie tip) at 10 3⁄8 inches. For comparison’s sake, Tony Romo’s hand was measured at 8.88 inches. Anything bigger than 9 1⁄2 is considered large for an NFL QB prospect.
            BOOM

I say Tony Romo compares well with Mayfield, but he can be better than Tony. Im good with him in the 1st round.

Alex Smith also has smaller hands than Mayfield.

HAnd size is good to go.

These measurables are pretty good considering the worries that existed out there. His height isnt good but nobody thought it would be. The worry here was that it would be much worse than expected, which it wasnt. His hand size is much better than expected.

In my opinion, any time you can lay to rest some of the major concerns people have about you, it is a positive and your stock will rise.

                  9.5 is average i guess... :O

Goff plays in 75 degree weather year round. Different story mid november in meadowlands. No idea he had such small hands for his height.

This is good news, hopefully some team will want to trade up with us to get him.

He actually measured a bit bigger than I thought he would. I think his film speaks for itself, and assuming he doesn't do something stupid between now and the draft, I expect him to be picked very high, Jets at the latest. I would be fine if we take him. I love the competitive fire.

Please no...Please don't pick a QB without a strong arm with the 2nd pick in the draft. It's such a disadvantage in the NFL compared to college. Not saying it's impossible, it's just much much harder to be a great QB.
