Almost 1/3rd of the NFL is undrafted players>>>

    http://www.post-gazette.com/sports/s...s/201409070235

"Undrafted players are more prevalent on the NFL landscape than ever before. In 2012, there were 608 undrafted players who appeared on active rosters for at least one game, or nearly 30 percent of all players, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Last year, the number was even greater -- 638, or 31.4 percent of the league's 2,026 total players."

HOW AWFUL ARE NFL TEAMS AT DRAFTING? IT IS TRULY UNBELIEVABLE HOW BAD THEY ARE AT IT.

Interesting stat, but it really just comes down to math. 53 players on a roster is a lot. Be curious how many pro bowlers were 1st or 2nd rounders compared to undrafted.

going through the rosters real quick from this past year I counted at least 49 1st round picks lol. Thats a ton. 15 of them were top 5 picks.

6 players were undrafted (excluding specialists).

I wouldn't say teams are bad at drafting. The great teams find important contributors
late and after the draft. And that surprises nobody.

Just goes to show you many of the so called draft gems by the analysts turn out as busts & a lot if the ones totstot overlooked become stars Bec they feel vthey have something to prove. While some # 1 picks feel dometsome is owed to them and never put in the work or reach the potential that was expected of them ( flowers )
Football has been very, very good to us.
After losing seasons 2013-15, the giants put up 11 wins in 16.. they are on way Back
But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-

          # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
          2-Washington, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
          3-San Francisco, Dallas, Denver
          4-New York Giants!!!
          5-NE
Let's make it 5 in 2016 so we can be on a LINE NE again!!!

There is only 64 1st and 2nd round picks a year... there is endless UDFA, simple math.. this is a misleading stat big time

NFL draft used to be 12 rounds. That's the real reason for increased number if UDFA

Could be some validity to this . 1992 last 12 round draft, 336 picks were made. 2018 256 picks were made ( 80 pick difference). The first 2 rounds =64 picks . Good point.

25% of superbowl rosters was actually UDFA's!

Big Point. UDFA are waaaaaaaaaaaaay more important than anyone thought.

"More than half of the players in the Super Bowl were 5th round picks or later (52.8 percent).

so do nfl teams just suck at drafting? or is it all coaching and scheme? Luck in not having injuries?

Some combo of All of the above?

                    You decide.

Wasn't Brandon Marshall an undrafted FA ....A borderline HOF player right there
                              list goes on and on
                              Kurt Warner
                              Tony Romo
weren't drafted either and I know there is plenty of LB and running back examples just having some trouble remembering right now
our very own Antonio Pierce I believe too
