  • Top OLmen in 2014 Draft:

Obviously OL will be a huge need for us headed into 2014.

If we get a top 10 pick, the wise thing might be to trade out of it and collect as many picks as we can to start rebuiding. We will see how the rest of the year goes though. I would like the Giants to draft 3, but no less then 2 OL next year.

Here are the top OLmen for that class:

Centers: Baas is garbage and Boothe is in a 1 year deal. Cordle is garbage.

Who do you guys like out of these players?

Could be one of the best D drafts ever. Id be pissed if they spent multiple early picks on OL.

Sign an OL in FA. Should be loaded. Draft one or two 4th round or later

I'm typically all for trading back, but this year, I'd at best would trade back two or three spots, if at all, in order to secure one of the defensive players which the top end seems rich in.

I'm willing to bet that tackle in the first round is unlikely. Though there could be as many as 5 in the first which could push some good linemen in the draft.

Do you not remember this past draft? They were flying off the board and we got Pugh.

Last draft was one of the strangest I have ever seen. The talent was only at the OL position. And none of the OL drafted have even played well yet

Yea and not at all what I expected either.

Thought him going to a terrible OL, and him being a tweeter t/g and nothing special as a run blocker.

Somehow he's been the best with no talent around him and he's been a dominant run blocker while struggling in pass pro as a guard.

This is why I hate evaluating OL especially spread offenses where OL never even put their hands down

Last year did not have the talent this year is poised to have.

He was added to a Oline that had changed from what it used to be, therefore tough to say terrible, when they have basically a new line? They got Bushrod, Slauson, Long, and Mills.. Kinda tough to call them anything but good and completely diffrent then what they were last yr..

Lineman aren't tough to evaluate. Thats why i like watching them in sr bowl and during combine, because more then any other, u get to see em outta there comfort zone and running diffrent things then there used to. U add that to what they did in college and come up with ur grade.

I agree with Slip about beefing up the defense though and getting oline later on.. The Center class is ridiculously deep, and we could get a starter there in RD4 probably. Then maybe grab a upside T/G and/or G from rds 5-7.. I would take Gabe Jackson if he were three in RD2 though. And Travis Swanson in RD3 would not upset me. Those 2 are the kinda lineman we need.

Honestly, I would trade out of our top pick if it is top 5 and there is a stud waiting there. I bet QBs will go first, Bridgewater being the prize, and Mariota will shoot up boards. Then you have Hundley from UCLA who is being looked at as a #2 pick, and Tajh Boyd making a name for himself. By the end of the year, Manzeil could be big. All 4 could be early top 10 picks. If a team like the Cards or Eagles finish ahead of us record wise and want in, they may pay the piper. We could get some very good draft picks back in return. Then we can rebuild the OL and still fix the D.

I wouldnt, giants need stud players on defense. They only have 1, maybe 2.

I would rather go defense and take either Anthony Barr or C.J. Mosley

Trading out is always a possiblity, and with the giants, it always seems like a good idea, but never happens, albeit, we never really see us in the top 10picking though..lol

I again, would say trading for ex picks is a good way to go.. We shall seee. I'd still grab 2more skilled posiotns, even if we had 2 1st rders, unless Jake Mathews fell to a spot we had no choice but to take em. But thinking of a Khalil Mack and Trent Murphy type 1st rd gives me goosebumps! I'd love to have 2 1st rders..
