    **** him.
His drug use and questionable conduct is only relevant. Not his opinion, just like you have yours. Everyone has that right. You always judge everyone on these boards as if you are a priest. See how this freedom thing works ?

Steal of the year . . . lol

The guy was a complete disaster in college and we have not heard anything about him getting his act together.

He was a disaster at the end of his college career. You can laugh all you want bud, but some team will pick him up. If he stays out of trouble and plays to his potential, he's got a huge ceiling. Thats a big steal and you're not risking much at taking it.

Regardless, he has the right to have whatever political / conspiracy opinion he believes in.

His opinions have absolutely nothing to do with football. Every one has their own. His personal conduct and drug problems should only be relevant to the NFL..
Lyerla is entitled to have whatever opinion he wants to have. But that opinion wouldn't play well in a big media market like New York. Throw in the coke problems and it's a PR disaster waiting to happen for the Giants and the NFL.

You have to be a priest to be offended by his Sandy Hook theories? Eh, ok.

You don't think that the Giants would consider his stupid Sandy Hook opinions when deciding whether or not to sign him, given that a good portion of the team's fan base hails from that area? I mean if his opinion is completely irrelevant to the team, why did Oregon come out with a statement condemning it?

Why do you think that no team has even signed him as a free agent?

So now players cannot state any of their own opinions? Like when TT2 stated his opinion on Sam, he was chastised? So players can play, but they cannot state an opinion to the media or anyone? Then the media should not be allowed in the locker rooms, nor allowed to interview any players. Please.

Who says they can't state their opinions? Donald Sterling can state his opinions if he wants, but it's completely na´ve to think that you can publicly state offensive opinions without ramification.

You are incorrect. Sterling has acted in disgusting racial discriminatory events over many years. That is offensive and disrespectful. To express a belief in a political situation or a conspiracy is not in the same category, which you are clearly including it in, TT2 did stated his opinion not in a disrespectful manner. Sterling did it with clear malicious willful intent. That is naive to compare these two totally different situations.

The only person saying that players can't state their opinions is you. Players, like everyone else, are entitled to state whatever opinions they want. And the Giants, and every other team in the NFL, are entitled to take issue with a player's opinions if they think that opinion reflects poorly on the team or league, whether it's about Sandy Hook or Michael Sam. And the fact that no team in the NFL drafted Lyerla, or has signed him as an UDFA, should tell you that he's seen as too toxic.

Again, His drug use and poor conduct and lack thereof are the concerns. That is why I would not sign him as well and that I agree with. I do not agree with many on these boards that judge another persons opinions, regardless of the topic.

Everyone has a right to their opinion. There should be no consequences, nor judgment if anyone, players included, express their personal opinion in a professional respectful manner.

Wait a minute. You're saying that you disagree with people judging another person's opinion, regardless of topic, but you judged Donald Sterling's opinions. Aren't you doing the very thing that you disagree with other's doing. And the Sterling has a past history of discrimination argument doesn't fly because he was still expressing an opinion that you passed judgement on.

Dude, what ??/ Sterling has been identified with this type of malicious racial behavior for years in the media and in the public court system.

I know Sterling has been identified with being a racist in the past and he deserves to get slammed for his comments. Just like Lyerla deserves to get slammed for his comments about Sandy Hook. Just because Lyerla doesn't have a long history of making offensive comments like Sterling does of practicing discrimination, doesn't mean that Lyerla shouldn't be condemned for his comments the way Sterling is being condemned for his.

Just like people are offended by Sterling's racist comments, people are also offended by Lyerla's comments about a school shooting being a conspiracy and saying that the parents lied about their kids being killed. Just like Sterling and Lyerla are entitled to express their opinions the people that are offended by those opinions are equally entitled to express their opinions of displeasure.

Just playing devils advocate here and don't agree w Colt or Sterlings comments in the least bit, but you are comparing apples to oranges. Race and politics are a work of difference apart. One is self-choice, the other you are born into. Commenting on what one might view as political conspiracies may seem stupid, but it's completely different than racism by a long shot.
