  • NFL considering turning anthem kneel into actual game penalty

    https://nypost.com/2018/05/22/nfl-co...-game-penalty/

Excerpt: "Kneeling during the national anthem could soon be equivalent to dangerous hits and excessive touchdown dances.

The NFL is considering a new punishment for its players taking a knee during the anthem, according to the MMQB, in the form of a 15-yard penalty — the same result as an unnecessary roughness or unsportsmanlike conduct call.

Annual owners meetings are underway, and the league is discussing leaving it up to the home team whether the teams come out of the locker room before the game for the anthem. The catch is that if a team does come out on the field and has a player who kneels, it could be hit with a flag before the game even begins." Read more...

Here's a better idea. Instead of putting the penalty yardage on the kickoff where kickers are still booming it for a touchback or the return isn't usually much better, tack on the penalty yardage on the kickoff return/touchback.

I hope that's what they are talking about because kicking it off 15 yards closer is pointless
Football has been very, very good to us.
After losing seasons 2013-15, the giants put up 11 wins in 16.. they are on way Back
But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-

        # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
        2-Washington, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
        3-San Francisco, Dallas, Denver
        4-New York Giants!!!
        5-NE
Let's make it 5 in 2016 so we can be on a LINE NE again!!!

Good for them . I pay for football not political statements. . If I want to see protests, I will go to Union square park in the city.

They are caught between what's right and what's serves the PC police. Believe me....every owner hated the kneeling but they are afraid of the consequences of taking a stand.
That's why I don't think they will enact this penalty for kneeling.

The NFL is chicken **** right now but there is a lot of money at stake....So it's hard to blame them.

You may be right. A lot of people watch their product for entertainment purposes only, not to watch the players take stands for social issues.

You have NO rights regarding protesting while at work. Your employer can prohibit that activity and almost all do. What you do one your own time is your own business....but when you're at work your employer has every right to require that your attention be exclusively the execution of your job.

In the NFL, when you are actually wearing a uniform that represents your employer, that is even more inappropriate. PLUS it has hurt the league. Fans want to escape from the crap in the world when they watch their team play. They don't want it shoved back in their faces. The league understands this.

the only ones who don't are self righteous, self important, rich athletes.
