Nah, they'll just say he had an off night. Though he also did throw 2 pick 6s a few days ago vs SF as well. 7 picks in 2 games & his TD streak ended as well. Hope we can keep it going when we play them after the Skins.

Eveybody has bad games and it won't happen since his name is Drew Brees

I actually felt embarrassed for him...he is still one of the best in my eyes.

The problem is that Drew Brees doesn't form part of the word "elite"...

Though to be fair, this is the front page image at nfl.com:

It looks like he's getting, uhh, you know...

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite team in the NFL.

            The grass is always greener...

A lot of Saints fans feel like it's horse crap that Rodgers is consistently placed ahead of Brees, and it took way longer for Brees to earn the title of 'Elite' than it should have taken.

That said, Eli had a fantastic year last year but so far he is not following up with a strong year. He's not having a much better year than Romo and Romo has been awful. Combine that with his rather average performances in years past and it's easy to understand why Eli is questioned as elite.

He's having a much better year than Romo. Eli has yet to single handedly lose us a football game.

Eh fair enough. But would you agree it's not exactly a strong season for Eli thus far?

I like Drew Brees and I feel he is one of the best in the NFL.

When you want to look at INTs though, you also have to look at TDs and Yards, which he leads the league in both categories as well. In fact, he is the Triple Crown leader right now in TDs INTs and Yards.

He was having a great year till that 3 game stretch of 0 TDs. Id say he is having a average year right now. But he could turn it all around again if he is hot again down the stretch.

That's what I'm getting at. He could definitely turn it around, but at the same time he's been average to below average for the majority of his career and is average, so far, this year. That's why there is all the speculation.

He's not having a bad year by any stretch... as you've put it, 'average' would probably the most appropriate word. He has one game with 500+ yards, but those are balanced out by the sub 200 yard games. And I mean balanced out in the most literal sense.

Overall, currently Eli is having a typical Eli year... around 250 yards passing per game, about 1.1 ints per game, on about 34-35 attempts per game, which has been pretty congruent with his average over the last few years (since he started airing it out in 2008). The only thing that isn't matching up is the TD totals, but I expect those should balance out toward the end of the year.

Every QB has bad games, even the elites. Eli shouldn't be criticized for his bad games since all QBs have them. However, his average numbers this year aren't out of the ordinary, which is why many still question whether or not he's elite.

You realize just a few weeks ago people were saying he should have been mvp?

Just to summarize for nte and others.

The entire point of the thread is that after Eli's 2nd SB MVP the 'experts' finally had to concede that Eli was in fact "Elite" after the thrashing they gave him the entire last year. Yet, all it took were 2 bad games in a row from Eli before the same people who wound up looking like total morons after SB46 started right back up with the same crap. How eli is in no way "Elite", is 'average', "can't make plays", etc, etc.

I'm just saying now that after 2 straight bad games by Brees they should be applying the same logic to avoid looking like the partisan hacks that they are.

no he doesn't just a chance to diss Eli...the fact remains Eli could wind up throwing for 30-tds and 11 ints by the end of this year and he still won't get any credit but who cares what a Dallas fan thinks or the media for that matter. The guy has won us 2 sb and that is all I can askfor.
