He will get in 100%, but first ballot I'm not so sure. If you look at pass rushers, there are very few first ballot guys...I'm talking like LT, Bruce Smith, Reggie White, and that's about it... A lot of really great ones didn't get in first ballot, Richard Dent, Chris Doleman, even Derrick Thomas(!)

As much as I love Stray, you have to admit that the belongs in the second category more than the first.

Of course, you could argue that his leadership, SB win, and larger than life personality elevate him beyond his on-field performance alone.

strahan is of the same caliber player as the LT's, Bruce Smiths, Reggie Whites...he's def. a first ballot HOF w/o a doubt

You could certainly make an argument there, but I think that the football world in general puts him a tier below those guys.

Re: Strahan Eligible For HOF Next Year

he should be a first ballot HOFer. For someone who was as good as he was for as long as he was while also being the leader he was...theres no reason not to induct him

I will be annoyed if he's not first ballot. Strahan wasn't a one dimensional pass rusher. In his prime he was the best run stopping DE in the NFL.

I love Strahan and I think he is a lock HOF'er, and should be first ballot. But he is a not of the same calliber as LT, Bruce Smith, and Reggie White. That's not a knock against Stray but it's just not fair to those guys.

Yes but I would also put him a notch above Derrick Thomas and other one-dimensional pash-rush specialists.

Also to whoever posted those unofficial Deacon Jones sack numbers: how ridiculous is that? In 12 or 14 game seasons when teams didn't pass nearly as much? That's not even fair to opposing QBs.

it would be a shame and show how poor the selection committee is if Michael Strahan DOES NOT get in first ballot.
he has all the numbers, rings, and honors a player can get.

If he is passed over it just shows you how full of ......... the committee is and how biased it is.

Strahan is a definite Hall of Famer.Every class is different depending on who becomes eligible that year.Looking at next years class I think Strahan will make it in on his1st year.Another year,a weaker class,he might not. He's borderline 1st year. He's not LT,Reggie White or even Bruce Smith. The list of 1st year inductees is impressive and pretty exclusive. Two recent 1st year HOF'er that jumped out at me as no way are Jim Kelly and Warren Moon.HOF'ers?Yes.1st year?Without a ring?Marino, even Fouts,I can accept.Tark too.But Kelly and Moon QB'd cartoon offenses that racked up stupid passing stats that never won.And Simms probably will never get close.Bob Griese is in.He was a game manager that had offensive weapons Simms could only dream about.Had he QB'ed the 91 bowl he'd be in.Big game.Griese,Kelly,Moon or Simms?Expand the Question.Career? You play in the toughest division, maybe ever. The toughest, windiest stadium to throw in.The best wideout you ever had was 1 time probowler Lionel Manuel and not one offensive player you ever had even approaches HOF status.Yeah,I love Bavaro too.But you get my point.

It will be tough considering who's up for it next year. Plus, with Parcells being passed over, that makes me less confident. I think he'll be in at some point, but I'm not convinced about 1st ballot.
