  • TE in draft or via free agency?

I like Ladarius Green ULL, 6'5 3/4 and 238. He runs smooth routes, pretty fast and catches with his hands. A nice tall target for Eli! Coach Pope can teach him how to block....
Or via free agency, Shiancoe can come back and thrive with Eli....he was great when he had a QB.

Giants are extremely high on Christian Hopkins from the practice squad. I think we'll see either a late 6/7 round pick on a TE or a low $ one in FA

Gilbride will not know what to do with a TE that is 238 pounds. See Beckum. If we don't take Fleener or Allen I don't see a TE that will be a fit with us. Admittedly I haven't seen every TE this draft has to offer of course, but so far I don't see any others that have opportunities to be true TE's in the NFL, which is what our offense requires so as to not give away pass over run. We're not the patriots who just pass pass pass and play small ball 24/7

Giants may want to take a chance since they are picking so low.

Charles from Georgia in the second round would be the best decision, very versatile and have that Vernon Davis athleticism.

Even though he is smaller at 6'2", I think he could be the best value pick in the 2nd round. Very good blockers and faster than Allen and Fleener. Some analysts think he is the best TE in the draft.

Yeah you right I would agree, we can really use this guy everywhere and the strongest T.E at the combine.

I checked the free agency and none of the TEs available are that impressive. Shiancoe is 32 years old soon and declined 3 straight years. Giants have to look at the draft for their future TE because they aren't available in free agency and Ballard isn't the future TE either.

I agree. The kid will have a shot for sure next season.

Chris Hopkins is 6'5" and weighs 255 lbs and runs a 4.78 sec in the 40 yard dash..... Dwayne Allen ran a 4.76 in the combine. It is fair to say that he has the size and good enough speed.. Can he block and make the catches though?

That 4.76 quickly turned into a 4.89 for Allen which looks a lot worst

Wow? I can't believe any Allen's hype when he got a 4.89 in the 40 yard dash. I think he just turned into a 2nd rounder now. The NFL star TEs are so much faster than him. I don't see Giants taking a TE in the 1st round. Giants may see either Allen, Charles or Fleener in the 2nd round.

Maybe we can get Kevin Boss back after the Raiders cut him. I can't see them keeping him for 8m/year.

Ladarius is an athletic freak! 4.53 in the 40, 34.5 vertical.... He has the measurables.... He just needs to be coached up. A talented project pick in the 4th or 5th round....
Shiancoe has not had a QB since Favre!

I was watching a little combine and I was impressed with Drake Dunsmore from North Western. 6'2 240lbs ran a 4.64 21 reps on the bench and lead the 3 cone drill.

He has a low grade on NFL.com but I noticed he is a pass receiving TE that looked great in his breaks, looked smooth running his routes and caught the ball. I think this would be a low risk high reward late round 6 or 7 gem. A good replacement for Beckum.
