LOYALTY REPORTEDLY DREW CARR BACK TO GIANTS

"Despite today's Twitter battle between Amani Toomer and
Jeremy Shockey, the New York Giants have established themselves as class-acts
in every sense of the term. The organization is of the highest caliber and that
is reflected from the front office, to the coaching staff, to the players.

    STATES - Tags: SPORT FOOTBALL)

As such, it is not surprise to learn that Giants backup quarterback,
David Carr, reportedly turned down a higher salary from another
team to return to Big Blue.

According to Mike Garafolo's Twitter account:

"Source says David Carr turned down a more lucrative deal with an
unidentified team to return to Giants. #nyg"

Obviously it's an enviable position, backing up Eli Manning,
who currently holds the record for most consecutive starts by a currently
    playing NFL quarterback.
However, Carr has shown that if ever called upon, he would be the right man for
the job. He has plenty of starting QB experience, knows the Giants
playbook/organization, and clearly has a rapport with the Big Blue receiving
    unit.

Furthermore, after viewing a season of grimace-inducing quarterbacks in
Indianapolis, having a player like David Carr in the wings is a tremendous
    insurance policy."

It must take a lot for a former starting quarterback to mentally consign himself to a backup role. Good on him.

A bigger signing than most would admit. Nice to get out of the way early as backups are underestimated, and the pickings this year weren't great.

I feel comfortable knowing Carr is the back up. He seems to do well in relief even though it's rare that he had to.

Carr is a great backup.....a guy who can hang win a couple games if Eli ever went down for a stretch.

Look at the cluster **** in Chicago after Cutler was injured.... and look at what Houston was thanks to some decent backups.

Not dealing with the #2 QB spot isan instant advantage going into next season.

This is a huge deal. Having consistency, someone who doesn't need to learn a complicated offense from scratch, familiarity in the locker room and on the practice field, not having to have him go elsewhere to give away the Giant playbook... fantastic to have Carr back again. It may pay in spades one day.

I'd like to see him get some playing time during the season to keep him more involved. Set him up in a package like how D.J. comes in or how a running QB does on some teams. He could work a few specialty plays.

They practiced some wildcat with him last year, but I doubt we'll ever see something like that during an actual game though.

A starting quarterback shouldn't lose snaps to a backup.

Every player should get in the game under some gameplan twist. There's no rule that says a backup quarterback can't come in for a few plays. Sure, it would be unique, but it would also give the starter a bit of a rest, similar to the defensive line rotation. If/when the Giants get up on the scoreboard by 21 pts., it's another opportunity.

After the pounding he took in Houston, he should almost be healed by now!

                          Good to have him back.

No one remembers who came in second.

Good to have him back, one less back-up spot that needed to get filled.

I don't blame him for turning down the more lucrative deal. If he went to another team he may actually have to get on the field and earn his pay. Here he just needs to make sure he looks good in a cap and holding a clip board, and making sure Eli's coffee has milk and TWO surgars. LOL. j/k

+1. And how about Indy when Peyton went down? I doubt that the entire organization would have been gutted if they had a decent back up.

Carr is the perfect back up and I'm glad that he decided to stick with a winner. He's never going to get another chance from some other lousy team to compete for the starting job anyway. Those days are past.
