  • Who do we have to resign in the next 2 offseasons?

I'm trying to get a sense of who's a priority and who is not and who we just can't afford to keep. So I'm looking for players who's contract expires after 2012 season and 2013.
Because of all of the effort and examination being poured into these predictions, the draft is a robust market that, in the aggregate, does a good job of sorting prospects from top to bottom.1 Yet despite so many people trying to “beat the market,” no single actor can do it consistently. Abnormal returns are likely due to luck, not skill. But that hasn’t stopped NFL executives from behaving with the confidence of traders.

2013 is going to be a crazy offseason. Hopefully the cap number will increase.

This site has the whole roster, when each player becomes a free agent, and how much they will make each season.

            2013 Free Agents:

            Ballard (restricted)
            Barden
            Beatty
            Beckum
            Bennett
            Blackburn
            Boothe
Andre Brown (exclusive rights free agent)
Stevie Brown (restricted, also I've never heard of him)
            Carr
Jim Cordle (exclusive rights free agent, another guy I've never heard of)
            Cruz
Chris Horton (is he an udfa?)
            Hixon
            Bruce Johnson (restricted, and who?)
            Sean Locklear
            Pascoe (restricted)

Re: Who do we have to resign in the next 2 offseasons?

So in the next 2 years, I would group players like this.

                Must resign:
                Cruz
                Tuck
                Nicks
                Webster

Really would like to resign but can be replaced:
                Umenyiora
                Joseph
                Boley
                Tynes
                Phillips

                Let 'em walk:
                Diehl

Take 'em or leave 'em and/or resign if the money's right:
                Everyone else

Of course, that's based off the past year or two. If younger guys like Beatty and Petrus step up their game, they move to a higher category.

Re: Who do we have to resign in the next 2 offseasons?

And because I'm bored, here are the 2015 free agents and beyond:

                  2015:

Amukamura - if he continues to progress, must resign
Austin - don't know, haven't seen him play
Bradshaw - Would like to resign, but can be replaced (by 2015, might even be a "let 'em walk")
Brewer - don't know, haven't seen him play very much
Canty - Would like to resign, but can be replaced
DeOssie - Take him or leave him
Jernigan - don't know, haven't seen him play very much
Greg Jones - don't know, haven't seen him play very much
Rolle - Would like to resign, but can be replaced
Snee- Would like to resign, but can be replaced

2016 (so far in advance it's hard to determine "grades," so these are based on 2012):

Baas - Let him walk (actually, probably more likely to be cut before then)
Kiwinuka - Would like to resign, but can be replaced
                  Manning - Must resign
Thomas - Would like to resign, but can be replaced

                  2017:

Weatherford - Would like to resign but can be replaced

It's kind of crazy how within 4 years almost every single player on the roster today could potentially not be a Giant anymore.

                      Yes we do.
Football has been very, very good to us.
After losing seasons 2013-15, the giants put up 11 wins in 16.. they are on way Back
But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-

                      # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
                      2-Washington, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
                      3-San Francisco, Dallas, Denver
                      4-New York Giants!!!
                      5-NE
Let's make it 5 in 2016 so we can be on a LINE NE again!!!
