  • Some very interesting stats on Eli Manning under pressure

A website has Eli ranked #8 among all NFL players....

Check out the breakdown on how well Eli has performed under pressure....

    http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog...w-york-giants/

".....What makes Manning’s season so special is that he did it in the face of more pressure than any other quarterback in football.

In the regular season, the Giants’ offensive line allowed 15 more total pressures than any other unit in the NFL, and if you throw in the playoffs that number rockets up to 91.

Eli had one of the best seasons in the league despite dealing with the single worst pass-blocking unit there was last year....."

Just more reasons to be thankful that we have an elite QB like Eli Manning playing for our beloved Giants.

Boy I hope this O line gets better or Eli is not going to last.

The unanswered question is if more time together as a unit or more talent is needed (referring to the OL).
Because of all of the effort and examination being poured into these predictions, the draft is a robust market that, in the aggregate, does a good job of sorting prospects from top to bottom.1 Yet despite so many people trying to “beat the market,” no single actor can do it consistently. Abnormal returns are likely due to luck, not skill. But that hasn’t stopped NFL executives from behaving with the confidence of traders.

This is why Eli is the best QB in he NFL. Sure there are others that have better numbers (Rodgers, Brady, Peyton, Brees), but if you put any of those under the same pressure Eli was under, they would just disintegrate.

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite team in the NFL.

I thought your article was the top 10 QBs. It's the top ten players. Eli is up there with Brees and Rodgers.

I didn't understand this part. How can you get 15 in 16 regular season games and then it rockets up to 91 in 4 more playoff games?

If they had the worst pass-blocking unit, it probably stands to reason that they had one of the worst, if not worst, rush-blocking units.

Exactly why Eli should have been league MVP. 32nd ranked rushing attack and the worst pass blocking oline in the league yet he still throws for 4900 yards and wins ANOTHER super bowl.

You wish you had talent, but lacking that you can improve a lot just working together for a few years. I think the '86 OLine was an example of that. Not heralded behemoths when they arrived, but all synchronized to open gaping holes, just by finesse and positioning. The didn't blow the competition away, the out-blocked them with technique.
Joe Morris had holes as big as cadillacs that year.

The year Eli had reminded me of several that Simms had... getting beat to death, but just getting back up time after time. It truly was a brave year by Eli.

Ha, ha, ha -- we'll maybe if the O-line continues to under perform this year (which I don't think will happen), maybe he'll have an even better season. Maybe the key is having enough pressure that he doesn't even have time to think, but rather just reacts.

We are truly like to have Eli as our QB and hopefully he'll be around for at least 8 more years.

I think they mixed their stats there. I think the regular season stat (15) was for all teams, while the playoff stat (91) stemmed from only those QBs that finished in the top 10 on their list as the regular season differential there was already 73.
