JPP, Tuck, and Osi will all get huge minutes.

I Agree. They will all get huge minutes. It doesnt really matter who "starts" because all of them will see the field and get significant playing time.

Is this really an issue? He's going to play as he played last season. He's getting paid more than he would have without the re-structure. The coaches will decide when he's on the field.

Why do people care? We should all realize by now that starting is meaningless for the DE, particularly the Osi/JPP spot. These guys are going to be splitting snaps. Even if Osi "starts," JPP will still get plenty of, if not more, snaps.

Also, ever consider it could also be to help Osi get up to speed as he missed (voluntarily or not) all the offseason OTAs?

Osi is a starter. Hes an all-pro DE.

If memory serves me he's only been selected for 2 pro bowls in his entire career. Plus he's definately not starting with us. He's a pass rush specialist but not an every down DE.

I don't want to start another debate but your statement is rediculous.

If memory serves me correctly, so has Tuck.

JPP has only made one probowl in his entire career.

                  Nice try though.

BTW, all-pro is not the same thing as a probowler. Different things completely.

Kind of hard to call anyone a true starter on this d-line since they rotate them in and out so much. Even our defensive ends see time at tackle. I wouldn't be too worried.

This is a non issue. We don't have "starters" and "backups"on the DLas far as I'm concerned. We switch out for passing downs all the time, always have...

True, but you need to stop the overrating of Osi. Great pass rusher and not much more. He gets away with that because we have Tuck and JPP to do the dirty work. Osi can jog on the filed in passing downs and get all the glory while the other guys make it possible for him.

Yeah I was going to say late last year we saw a good amount of Osi at Left End and Tuck at DT. You also see JPP at DT a fair amount. I can't recall Osi ever playing inside though.

I don't know if its exactly like that Pizz. Each player has a role, but it seems that JPP and Tuck are full time guys and Osi comes in on passing downs, moving Tuck to DT and JPP to left DE.

As I just said, Tuck and JPP do the work of complete DE's that we need.

Osi is a fine run defender. Not as good as JPP or Tuck, but still good.

But you are an Osi hater, so you will never believe that.
