  • Giants' DJ Ware has a big oportunity with Brandon Jacobs out of the backfield

    Excerpt: "
He spent the offseason adding six pounds of muscle to his already-thick frame, knowing all along that this would be his chance. And he opened the most important preseason of his life in style on Friday night against the Jaguars, rumbling for 30 yards on five carries and scoring the Giants’ first touchdown.

Yet D.J. Ware knew it wasn’t enough. The 27-year-old Giants tailback knew it the moment he saw rookie runner David Wilson run.

“You can’t never let up, man,” Ware said. “I have that young guy (Wilson) behind me. He’s definitely making a push for the No. 2 spot, so I just have to keep going, keep staying consistent and making plays.” Read more...

He did indeed. I suspect he'll make the final 53

You got that right DJ lol. Fortunately for him the, "what have you done for me lately", mentality cuts both ways. If he keeps pushing himself, and shows more consistency than Wilson he just might be able to land the second RB slot. For a little while anyway.

I anticipate Wilson being the # 2 at some point. His misreading that play in the 4th quarter reminds us there is more to running back than, well, running lol

even if Ware continues to play well i still dont foresee him as the #2.

whereas Wares potential is prolly been reached already Wilsons is in front of him.

i think Ware may start out as the #2 from an experience standpoint but nothing more!

and he makes a fine #3 back. He's solid, and knows the offense.
