  • Will Hill first preseason game: play by play

    Will Hill #38
Hill mostly covered the slot man. When the lighter package came in, Hosley took over the slot. I never saw both on the field together.
These are the plays I saw Will Hill in. (I may not have noticed every time he was in and I didn't count special teams).
    1. run- shoved out of play by lineman
    2. run- played off the right tackle and makes the tackle
    possession change
    3. run- gets past the slot receiver's block and gets in on tackle
    4. pass- slot coverage. good chuck on his man within 5 yards.
    change possession
    5. pass- blitz from the slot gets picked up
    6. pass- covers the slot man, rough with him within 5 yards, disrupts route.
    possession change
    7. run- mixes it right up with linemen, but did not get the tackle.
    8. screen- This is the Will Hill highlight play! 3rd quarter at 11:15. Hill takes on the pulling center & stuffs the play. He also makes the tackle! If you look closely, you can see him bringing down the ball carrier by the leg. Truly a remarkable play. Carl Banks erroneously gives credit to Greg Jones. And the other idiot credits Kuhn. So totally wrong! Hill made the entire play himself by tackling a center and a running back both together! Do yourself a favor. Find a replay and watch it closely.
    9. run- on the slot guy. play is away.
    10. end around- Hill was heads up the whole way. Stays between the endzone and the ball.
    11. run- shoots the gap & makes solo tackle for loss.
    12. pass- his blitz is picked up this time.

    Excellent showing by Mr. Hill.

I don't want to jinx him, but I agree. He was very very active.
Need to see more of his coverage skills though.

Well we are overloaded with players at his position
Football has been very, very good to us.
After losing seasons 2013-15, the giants put up 11 wins in 16.. they are on way Back
But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-

          # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
          2-Washington, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
          3-San Francisco, Dallas, Denver
          4-New York Giants!!!
          5-NE
Let's make it 5 in 2016 so we can be on a LINE NE again!!!

overloaded with who? Kenny Phillips, Rolle might be covering the slot, Sash? out the first 4 games, that leaves Stevie Brown and Chris Horton...both of which Hill is outplaying. Brown got ran over bad in the game

not only do i see him making the team, i see him making a strong push to fill in for the void grant role, seems the giants are trying to get him up to speed ASAP and have him perform multiple responsibilities...and he's succeeding too

He looked like what Bradshaw did to the Jets safety.

I'm really liking the progress of Hill so far. If he can make these kind of plays against a top-flight offense, he's going to steal a lot of snaps from a linebacker this year.

Nice job on this analysis btw Fourth&Forever. This is the kind of work that should be stickied into a giant thread.

No one remembers who came in second.

He is making the team. Not only that, he willprobably be behind only KP and Rolle. He is a very good athlete. It will be hard to keep him off the field.

Will Hill was a great pickup.

Love his demeanor. Can really wrap a guy up. Goes right back to the huddle without all the "look at me" after the play crappola.

So much so, that the announcers have no clue he made the tackle.
