  • Give Demps a Shot?

According to ESPN, Jeff Demps the sprinter/football player from Florida now wants to join an NFL team this season after returning from the Olympics. This guy has unmatched speed and could be a Sproles type player and special teamer. Should the Giants even give him a look? Check out this clip of his speed

Don't know. It reminds me of the Raiders' James Jett experiment. He was in the NFL for awhile but never really did anything. He was an Olympic sprinter as well.

as an undrafted free agent, absolutely worth the risk. Nothing to lose here.

lol It reminds me of Henry Carr and Rocky Thompson.
No one remembers who came in second.

This. But seriously why not give him a look? If our returners can't get their **** straight then we may need to look into other options for our return game.

That's what I'm saying. The Kentucky player in the video had 6 yards and an angle on him and he still outran him lol. That's elite speed. Imagine that returning punts.

I would like to see Hosley and Jernigan given more chances to show what they can do. But if they keep struggling, or Hixon gets injured again, then I would not mind.

by then..he will surely be on a roster somewhere. A little competition never hurt anyone.

You realize Jeff Demps is a RB right?

Also he would have been taken easily in the draft this year if he didn't decide to train for the olympics. He had a pretty good career at Florida.

He must have been watching Chris Rainy last weekend.

Yea let's go try out another RB when our DT department needs all the attention it can get. Why are you so worried about an olympic runner when we're having battles between Wilson, Scott, and Ware. We don't need another RB prospect.

It's not about need. It's about stock piling talent and getting him at a low price.

Well now that we have a need for DTs, there's really no reason to waste money on a $40 pair of sandals (when you have 4 pairs already) rather than getting a nice pair of $100 sneakers. If you catch my comparison.

The Giants have no idea what they have in Scott yet and he's not guaranteed to make the team either. Right now the only pair of shoes they have is AB, Ware, and Wilson. Ware is nothing special and neither is Brown.

I think your underestimating the value of what speed offers. GM's are always looking to add it and sometimes guys get tryouts just because they're fast. Demps played in the SEC so it's not like he's just fast and can't play. I can definitely see him being used as a Sproles type.

I expect many teams will show interest in him.
