  • James Brewer can never get on the field..........

Guy was back at practice again today and then suddenly...was not. Starting to become very frustrated with him....

Check that - DT Marvin Austin (back) wasn't practicing. OT James Brewer was but then was lurking in the injury area. #nyg

Well when he did get on the filed this preseason he did not take steps forward - was beat several times in pass blocking. Guess there is a reason he was drafted in the 4th.

I never liked Brewer when we drafted him, even as a "project"

Big guys take a long time, and Brewer had the added issue of no OTA and a short training camp last year. It's not surprising he's behind. The injures are an isue; but he seems to be working through them. With McCants, and Mosley all still in the system, and the addition of Jones, hopefully at least one of the four makes some real progress and is ready to play next year. I have to think Diehl will give some serious thought to retiring after this season.

There is something to be said for an early round pick too. There is a reason many of these guys have not stuck - they really werent supposed to be all that good to begin with. Diehl was a 5th rounder and thats an exception - not a rule. Not saying one wont emerge but next year, with the oline being what it is - id be suprised if a lineman isnt taken early rounds. Snee was arguably are best lineman for years - no shocker he was taken in the second round.
