  • Manningham isn't a starting receiver in SF either

    http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/09/04/49ers-list-randy-moss-michael-crabtree-as-starting-receivers/

    I
know he wanted a chance to get more action on the field, but it seems like he's gonna be a 3rd option out in SF as well... he should have stuck with the Giants or gone with a team that was hurting more at receiver than SF-aside from the fact that he went from Eli to Alex Smith....

In all likelihood he went there for the money, not the man throwing him the ball.

could all change as the season wears on. There were two other WRs there and Moss is there too...

He had a shot at winning their #1 job, that wasn't possible in NY

Considering Vernon Davis is there too at TE, Manningham probably isn't going to get a lot of balls. I think Rueben Randle will outperform him, and Rueben is still learning our system.

I'm not so sure starting had anything to do with Manninghams going to the 49ers, it looks to me that it was all about money and he's going to find out that he should have stayed right where he was just like Steve Smith did...

I think once Moss starts showing his age Manningham will be the #2, but that is still like the 4th option there. His bank account his bigger I am sure he feels good for now.

If I remember correctly, Manningham's deal with the 49ers wasn't for all that much...2 years, $7mil?

Doesn't matter. that offensive is so conservative that none of their receivers are going to standout.

I don't think they will stay conservative with targets like Randy Moss, Vernon Davis and Manningham at their disposal...Harbaugh is also a coach who believes in Alex Smith, which is different from the coaches they've had there before. While they will still lean on the run, I think they will be more balanced this year...
