  • Giants Plan To Rest Safety Kenny Phillips Through BYE week

    http://www.theredzone.org/BlogDescri...k/Default.aspx

Excerpt: "Giants safety Kenny Phillips is not expected to return until after the Giants' Week 11 bye, coach Tom Coughlin said today according to Jenny Vrentas of the Newark Star-Ledger.

Phillips has been sidelined since suffering a right knee sprain against the Eagles in Week 4. He practiced each day last week, twice in a limited capacity, and said he would play against the Steelers, but wound up being inactive." Read more...

I wonder if Williams will make it back on the field this year? We sure could use his skills.

It sucks that Nicks' knee swelled. I would probably rest him until the bye as well.

Hakeem Nicks DNP practive 11/7/2012 Knee Swelling

Here we go again. I love the guy but he can't stay healthy. Hopefully their just being cautious. If it's something thats gonna get worse by playing we should shut him down till after the bye, we need him healthy.

Kenny Phillips Out For Sunday And More From Afternoon Tea with Tom Coughlin

        http://www.giants101.com/2012/11/07/...-tom-coughlin/

Excerpt: "Despite the holiday season nearing, New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin wasn't very chipper as he took the podium for his weekly Wednesday press conference. Following a very disappointing 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, he was in no real mood to dilly-dally. Instead, his focus was squarely on Sunday afternoon and the Cincinnati Bengals. However, and per the usual, something else dominated the focus of the weekly tea session.

The pre-practice injury report was, of course, all the rage. It was especially popular this week because it included a season-high 11 players. They were, in no particular order: David Baas (ankle), Chase Blackburn (hamstring), Ahmad Bradshaw (foot), Andre Brown (shoulder), Chris Canty (groin),Hakeem Nicks (knee), Bear Pascoe (ankle), Kenny Phillips (knee), Keith Rivers (calf), Chris Snee (ankle) and Jacquian Williams (knee).Of the players listed on the pre-practice injury report, Chris Snee, Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks and Kenny Phillips will not practice. Andre Brown will. The remaining players were not discussed, so whether or not they practice will be determined once the team hits the field.

For Nicks, his return to the injury report is especially bad news. Coughlin said his knee has swelled up again, so they will rest him. As for Phillips, the coach says he has not suffered a setback, but will be inactive on Sunday. The team plans to rest him through the bye week." Read more...

Nicks, Phillips, Snee, Williams, Bradshaw, Blackburn and Canty Not Practicing

No sign of Nicks, Phillips, Snee, Williams at practice. Bradshaw was on bike. Blackburn, Canty running on side.

Baas, A. Brown, Pascoe and Rivers are doing at least some work today. Will Hill's back to practice, too.

Tom Coughlin says Hakeem Nicks' knee swelled up again. He won't practice today.

Snee hurt his ankle early vs Pitt but kept playing on it. He will not practice.

Ahmad Bradshaw still on once a week practice schedule

Kenny Phillips will not practice. Coughlin said team wants to rest him through bye and then bring him back.

Good move to rest Phillips. I don't think we'll need him so desperately in Cincy. Better to let him rest so he's even healthier coming off the important post-Thanksgiving stretch.

I think they learned a lesson the hard way when they let Nicks come back to early. Looking at him try to run in that 49er game was hard to watch and he has yet to do anything since coming back. Let KP sit until he is fully recovered. Bringing him back to soon, as they have learned with Nicks, will only make it worse.

Yep. If they had just sat nicks another week or two despite what nicks himself was saying ( how he was good to go and had no setbacks and felt 100%) they wouldn't be in this predicament they are in now.
Football has been very, very good to us.

But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-
