  • Giants could be entering another broken-down 1970's Era....Sad.

Looking at the age, and collapse of the current Giant team, and their lack of any cap space makes it very likely that the Giants are entering another era like the 1970's....Like Moses, Mara and Tisch will be wandering (for let's hope less than 40 years),and trying to re-assemble and playoff worthy team, and it won't be easy under the current enviroment. With the Advance of the Redskins and Cowboys, the Eagles and Giants become the cellar-dwellars of the NFC East, but Philly does have more younger players, good RBs, and a possible young Franchise QB. The Giants are old on the offensive line-old on the defensive line-they have no RBs-no TE, and an erratic, unreliable QB. The Eagles might bounce back next year to compete, but will still probably finish third, with the Cowboys and the Skins fight it out for first........meanwhile, the Giants will begin their meandering through the tough wilderness of rebuilding a football team, without any real cap space and their best college player-personnel man gone to the Carolina Panther's GM job (Marc Ross).

Rebuilding doesn't exist anymore with the advent of free agency. Teams dont really rebuild anymore

As for this team reverting back to the disaster that was the 70's, c'mon.....if we looked like the Raiders, there would be reason to believe it. They have nothing.....NOTHING good going for them. Yes, there will likely be some changes, but they are a year removed from a Super Bowl win. Just need an infusion of youth and a couple of FA pieces to hold it all together.

Come on man dont u get tired of making apocalyptic threads. The Giants may have a down year next season while they retool the roster but there are pieces on this team to build around. The cap situation could be fixed in 1 purge this off season if they want to. I find it extremely disrespectful to this organization that has done a lot of winning over the last 6 years to act like they are totally incapable of fixing the roster sending them into a decade long funk

I can't take you seriously when you refer to cap problems being akin to the 1970's.

You will take me seriously, when the Giants let go about 20 players and start talking about how "all their young guys are ready to start".....it's what they have to do to move along, get their cap space in order, and begin to rebuild.

That is exactly what people said before we won the super bowl. It is what it is we still have a good deal of young talent. A couple players on the o-line could completely transform this team. Could you imagine if we had an oline like houston? Because we have all the skill players on offence we need (when healthy)
Just remember Kevin Love makes more money then OBJ, and OBJ also dunks better.

A couple of oline players won't make the receivers catch balls, or the starting running back find the hole, our D-line block, the d-backs cove, or our OC and DC change things up.

The era's are so different you can't compare. In the 70's, part of the problem was bickering between Wellington and Tim Mara. Once the were convinced to bring in George Young things stabilized. Also, there was no free agency to help change team make-up. Teams can turn around very quickly, even after really terrible years, like the Colts last year.

Agreed, but the Colts got Andrew Luck, just as the Skins got RG III.......the Giants won't be getting that impact player through he draft, where they will be picking (probably around 15).

This fan base is so pathetic. Go be Bills fans for a few years then come back and see if you appreciate the Giants or not.

Do you know how the cap actually works?
No one remembers who came in second.

Someone should keep track of all of this clown's threads just to verify later how wrong he is.

My rough guess is that he's wrong everytime about everything.
