Honestly im very confused on what the Giants defense is trying to be there seems to be a lack of identity. Some of the pieces seem perfect to be a Tampa 2 defense then others dont and its a mish mash disaster. A lot of it may be injuries. The Giants have had awful luck with defensive players.

Also Derek Cox is a guy i'd see if his injury history could get em for cheap.. Cox is extremely talented but injury prone..
I'd love to have Derek Cox, didn't even know he was a free agent this year. Doubt we get him anyways

Fewell tries to run tampa 2... where you want bigger stronger CBs. Problem is he has a safety he doesnt trust playing deep in Rolle. So they end up playing cover 3 all game instead.

I don't really trust Rolle either, it may just be me but whenever I see a busted coverage it seems to be Rolle who was supposed to help over the top and was missing

and unfortunately we will be seeing Fewell trying to run his Tampa 2 with or without the players that are suited for that defense. That wont change unless Fewell gets another gig somewhere(doubtful) or he gets canned for stinking it up this coming year.

I wonder what it would look like if they were full strength with Phillips and a healthy TT who is tailor made for Tampa 2. If they made the pieces fit together it wouldnt be a train wreck

Good post.. Very diffcult to gauge what giants are trying to do on defense because they mix and mash diffrent types of players that u would think fit diffrent defenses , with some seemingly good fit for Tampa 2 and others not so much.. Maybe we just over analyze some of these guys being able to play in certain systems, as its all "football', and alot of these guys are seperated by so little its ridiculous, or we gotta start putting pieces together that seemingly fit the sytstem and stop adding guys that seemingly don't...

Or start tailoring the system to the players' strengths. There are players on both sides of the ball who seem out of sorts - it's quite strange.
