That's exactly what I've heard about these positions. They count stuff, track stuff etc. They are more like interns. They wield no authority or power.
No one remembers who came in second.

It's part of the developmental philosophy that extends throughout the organization. Bring them in young, get them to buy into the process and promote them when opportunity presents itself.

You need to read the posts with the links to understand that this is an entry level position that basically does grunt work

I don't always root for the Cowboys but when I do I wear my pink Jessica Simpson edition Romo jersey. (yes I lost a bet)

WTF is a "Defensive Quality Control Coach"? Are the Giants defensive players on DOUBLE SECRET PROBATION too????
Never heard of anything so stupid in my life.
How about the Giants find some money and sign some established FA Defensive players that can actually help this team get it's collective head out of it's *** instead of hiring people for jobs that sound made up!

John McKay, HC of the 1976 winless TB Buccaneers, when asked by a reporter, how McKay felt, about the execution of his offense.

Every team has defensive quality control coaches. Even in college.

Thats a very interesting bit of trivia, but it's still the stupidest thing I've ever heard of!

Why is it stupid? Teams need someone to go over all the film and give breakdowns. Do the grunt work that the coaches can then go over with the players.

Unless you think coaches should spend their time cutting tape and working on probabilities.

Isn't that how Belichick started out? Maybe another coach?

I believe so. Lots of coaches, if not most, started out that way. Best way to learn the game by far
