LT was the star of the defense but he really wasn't the leader or captain of the defense. That would be Carson. Simms was def the leader of the offense.

But like was said above, it was Parcells team..

                THIS!!!!!!!
Because of all of the effort and examination being poured into these predictions, the draft is a robust market that, in the aggregate, does a good job of sorting prospects from top to bottom.1 Yet despite so many people trying to “beat the market,” no single actor can do it consistently. Abnormal returns are likely due to luck, not skill. But that hasn’t stopped NFL executives from behaving with the confidence of traders.

Without a doubt it was Phil Simms's team. LT was GREAT, but Phil Simms was the true all out leader of the team. The Defense of the 86 Giants was one of the best defense's the Giants ever had. Pepper Johnson - Carl Banks Leonard Marshall wer all GREAT PLAYERS. The Offense besides Bavaro and Morris were to put it bluntly wasn't stellar, especially the Wide Outs at that time. Phil elevated that offense and made the Wide Outs look good.

                  Peace

when you watch Simms in the superbowl you see who's team it is. That said LT was a major piece on Defense.

Definitely Parcell's team. This is before free agency so the players has less power back then. LT was the most popular player.

What do you mean by who's team is it? Who was the most dominant player? Who was the most vocal leader? Who set the tone for the team?

How many captains were sent out for the coin toss during the SB ? If you don't remember it was Harry Carson all by himself with 9 Broncos. The Giants knew who their leader was.
