    Giants, Boothe Not Near Deal

    http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/giant...irtFinZouoKjMO

Excerpt: "Kevin Boothe started all 16 games last season at left guard and wants to return — he has spent the past six years with the Giants — and the Giants want him back. Thus far, though, the contract offer is not enough to keep Boothe from hitting unrestricted free agency and, on March 12, the open market.

“We’ve had positive conversations on Boothe,’’ his agent, Joel Segal, told The Post.
If Boothe, 29, receives a better deal elsewhere, the Giants will have to scramble to replace him, as there isn’t a proven guard currently on the scene. There’s Selvish Capers and Jim Cordle on the roster and also Brandon Mosley, a 2012 fourth-round draft pick from Auburn who spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve." I wasnt stating it to indicate every guy needs to be an all pro. i was stating it bc the fact he isnt all pro material imo means hes not someone who cant be replaced...thought that was obvious but i see how i coulda been confusing
Reese has taken care of Beatty and he won't do it again for a lineman. However, if he can get Boothe he should. Don't forget he can move over to center if we needed him to.

I have to admit that the right and intelligent thing to do for Boothe and his agent is to wait for FA to start and see his value in the open market then if Boothe really want to stay in Blue he will come back with Reese and try to match any offer he has on the table. Boothe is a very intelligent and bright guy and I'm sure he'll go this way. Boss and SS are banging their heads literally for not doing so.

Maybe but I really think he could get more buck in FA. It's not what other teams " think " what's the value of Boothe or any other player, is the market value the one that puts the price tag .

    If we lose Boothe

we will stink at both guard positions. For those of you waiting for Snee to revert back to All Pro status, good luck. Snee has played at a All Pro level since 2009.

If we could find an upgrade at LG that would be a nice down payment on upgrading the OL.

Solid player, great character, and would be shame to lose but cannot throw huge money at him and its likely he'll get a better offer in the open FA market.

That guy was disappointing I liked his college tape. he was athletic could pull real well had fantastic movement skills .Overlooked his problems with strength on tape because of strength in combine drills. Attributed most of his weaknesses to inexperience. Yes though he absolutely did Suck at Football

    Beatty 7.75
    Boothe 3
    Baas 5.5
    Snee 7.25
    Diehl 5.1

That is more than 28m going out per year for a unit that has 4 out of 5 guys that will be 30 or older this season. Guys that were drafted the last few years have to step into these roles or be sent packing. Brewer is going into year 3 while McCants and Mosely are heading into year 2. It is time for them to get on the field this year or be replaced with guys who will play before year 4 and only to sign deals elsewhere.
Exactly...his age alone doesn't warrrant a big contract. He's a nice player...but looking into the future...he doesn't seem to be into the plans as he will be getting old quickly. If he wants to stay for a modest rate...that would be fine...but I'm sure he wants to see if someone will pay him some big bucks first.
