  • Giants' Depth Chart: Justin Pugh Listed As Starting Right Tackle

    http://www.bigblueview.com/2013/4/30...hl-ryan-nassib

Excerpt: "Check out the New York Giants' post-2013 NFL Draft offensive depth chart and one thing leaps off the page. First-round pick Justin Pugh is listed as the starting right tackle.

Now, that is NOT official as it does not come from the Giants. It is, however, interesting. The Giants have not yet committed to what position the versatile Pugh will play -- much less said he will be a Day 1 starter on the offensive line. The knowledgeable folks at Ourlads, who provide the most consistently updated depth charts you can find anywhere on the Inter-Google, have taken the leap of faith that the Giants will likely give the youngster from Syracuse every chance to win the one job on the offensive line that is not yet spoken for.

Fourth-round pick Ryan Nassib is listed as the third quarterback on the depth chart -- behind David Carr and in front of Curtis Painter. Nassib is likely going to have to show the Giants during training camp and pre-season that he is ready to win NFL games now before they give any thought to getting rid of veteran David Carr.
Here is the complete depth chart:" Read more...

TC said he would likely start at RT, imagine our surprise that he's on the depth chart at RT

Like I told you before RF.... Even TC thinks the Cruz situation is taking too long. Your opinion of "negotiations" is just not right in this case.

It's the only place he'd probably hold up, and be effective at. No surprise.

TC is only bothered because he wasn't there last week. So for the first time, the situation with Cruz hit home.
But ultimately its not really important that he was there at all. As long as this gets resolved by camp its not that big of a deal.

                thats absurd GTG.

he was a standout G in HS in a triple option offense bc of his athleticism. he gets to the 2nd level (LB) as good as any OL prospect in this draft including the "top 3". He can play LT or RT, LG or RG. Just the fact of it. Prob could even go at C. Now I'm not saying we want him to be our LT the next decade, Im saying he could get the job done in a pinch if need be.

anyways, I was kinda surprised with how many thought Pugh was some depth pick. Guys gonna be our RT week 1 and I've maintained that since he was the selection.

It's a safe and understandable projection. There's a slim chance Brewer might emerge but Pugh has better footwork and technique to handle speed rushers. Diehl is well...yeah.

He gets pushed around by stronger ends on the tape I've watched, what's more absurd is you saying he'd be a top 5 pick if he had longer arms. He has good footwork, granted, but not a top 5 pick. He wouldn't be /effective/ at LT, he wouldn't /effective/ at guard, he'd be average, he'd be beat more than once a game, and he just doesn't suit the position well. I do think he'll be an /effective/ RT, and if you throw him out there he can hold his own.

                        Actually, that's not the case.

But you need strength to be an effective RT..... If you think he wouldn't not be effective at LT and G, judging from your statement, what makes you think he'd hold his own at RT?

Don't worry, as soon as Pugh blows an assignment, David Diehl will back!

I don't think the Giants expect Ryan Nassib to be NFL Ready even after training Camp -- It woud be a great thing if he was but the chances of that aren't very good -- Now if he is NFL Ready by the end of camp we could release David Carr and (Im Not to sure about this) recoup the cap money and possibly sign a FA Linebacker which would be ok with me and I'm sure a lot of other fans
