Did the Giants suddenly lose all their draft picks two years or more down the road? If they need to draft another QB and maybe trade Nassib to gain a pick in 2 years+ time they most certainly can do that or heck they can draft another QB and have two young QB's instead of just one. Nothing wrong with that.

In another year or two, chances are a 1st or 2nd round rated QB isn't going to fall into your lap in round 4.

as we all know if Eli goes down the team is done anyway.
Why not have a kid like Nassib, who right now, has a higher ceiling then Carr by a long shot. Maybe.....just maybe the Giants have an ace in the hole with this kid. If they are going to groom him and want him to be be "worth" something then he will have to play in garbage time way more then Carr or any of the other Giants backups have.

Truth, makes sense. Didn't know Nassib was rated 1st or 2nd round though.

Nothing wrong with having an insurance policy for the most important position on a football team. Let him develop, he has all the tools.

He has a strong arm and his NFL draft profile lists: "Puts a lot of air under deep balls, giving his man a chance to make a play." as one of his strengths other profiles list that quality as a weakness. These things contradict themselves from sentence to sentence. He has footwork problems which worry me (David Carr), but if that is corrected he should have no problems. Accuracy and footwork go hand and hand. Both can be improved with coaching.

Also the swirling wind thing isn't quite the same in the new stadium. A lot of that was due to the design of the old Giants Stadium.

So people thought the Jets might take him at #13 in round 1. Most people thought that he'd go in the first few picks in round 2.

Guess so, but they also said the draft was QB weak, so why should Nassib be any good especially since he went in the 4th round nonetheless?

No one knows about his desire and work ethic as of right now in the NFL, so it's all speculation right now on whether or not he will be good.

He's got a good place though, a team that can drive this kid. Hopefully it works.

Before the draft while discussing Nassib on NFL Network, they said he has all the tools to be a 1st round pick and franchise QB. His problem seems to be that on occasion his accuracy is off. He'll miss the wide open receiver. They also said he's probably the most ready to play QB in the NFL in the draft.

like everyone else I questioned the pick when the giants did it. especially trading up to get him. now if they say he was the highest rated on their board at the time and felt someone else would take him in those 6 picks or so till we drafted in the 4th round then so be it. the pick has grown on me as well. I think its a smart move to start grooming your new guy especially since we know that Painter and Carr are not the answer for the future for sure. We wont carry 4 QBs and the Giants wont take a chance putting him on the PA for fear of someone claiming him off waivers. So that means its prob bye bye for Carr. I don't think they would cut Painter after they just signed him as a FA. I think Painter becomes your Carr and Nas will be Eli's Eventual Replacement. Youll see him get in for mop up duties and gradually take the 2nd spot on roster as the backup to eli maybe within 2 seasons.
Football has been very, very good to us.
After losing seasons 2013-15, the giants put up 11 wins in 16.. they are on way Back
But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-

                          # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
                          2-Washington, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
                          3-San Francisco, Dallas, Denver
                          4-New York Giants!!!
                          5-NE
Let's make it 5 in 2016 so we can be on a LINE NE again!!!

Even if Nassib doesn't pan out, the thought process is a good thing.

Oh and like some have said we all know that if Eli ever went down our season would be over with our backups. at least with this kid you have someone you actually fell could be the successor to Eli coming in to take the Reps. Season may very well STILL be over if Ryan plays but at least he will be working towards being the Number 1 guy at some point. With the other 2 you know it s just a body in there and depending on how hurt Eli was they would be just playing out the string while the giants looked for a suitable replacement.. the other thing is that eli is getting older and he knew he had no completion with our current backups and knew they were no THREAT to him. Having this kid waiting in the wings I think will be even more motivation for eli to go out and win another SB

This may be more the reason than we know. Eli has been very durable, but, as we all know, that could end at any time.
