  • NFL Future Power Rankings: Giants No. 11

    https://www.bigblueview.com/2017/7/1...nts-no-11-espn

Excerpt: "ESPN came out with its 2017 NFL Future Power Rankings on Monday. They ranked the top teams over the next three season. The New York Giants came in on the list at No. 11, second in the division behind the Dallas Cowboys, who came in at No. 6. This is how they measured each team.

To project which NFL franchises are in the best shape for the next three seasons, we asked our panel of experts -- Louis Rid****, Mike Sando and Field Yates -- to rate each team's roster (excluding quarterback), quarterback, draft, front office and coaching using this scale:

    100: A+ (Elite), 90: A (Great), 80: B (Very good), 70: C (Average), 60: D (Very bad), 50: F (Disastrous), 40: F- (The worst thing imaginable).

After averaging the results from the panelists, each of the five categories was weighted to create the overall score -- roster (30 percent), quarterback (20 percent), draft (15 percent), front office (15 percent) and coaching (20 percent). The result is a comprehensive ranking based on how well each team is positioned for the future.

Here is how the Giants scored in each category (with NFL rank):

    Roster: 81/100 (T-9th)

    Quarterback: 80/100 (16th)

    Coaching: 77.3/100 (11th)

    Draft: 78/100 (15th)

    Front Office: 79.3/100 (14th)
Overall Score: 79.37/100 (11th)" Read more...

I'd be interested in knowing how they equate the 18 & 19 drafts in 2017....Ms Cleo?

This concept is a pip. 3 years into the future ! Is any team even going to look near the same team in 3 years that they are now ? ESPN is in worse shape than us on this board to find things to talk about in the final days of the off season. It's OK though camp opens in less than 3 weeks, were all going to be OK.

Dallas has a great young QB, depth and youth along the Oline, and a young RB. Receiving corp not in such great shape with the oft-injured Dez and the ancient TE. Defense not so sure either, they can be beat.

But overall I do agree theyre #1 in the division until someone knocks them off

There's something in the comments of this article, that the Cowboy's run defense was better than the Giants last season? Hard to fathom, unless it has something to do with their good run offense helping that defense.
Another thing is how this ranking rates the F.O. of each team. Giants are just middle of the pack. Didn't see the Cowboy's ranking here - but wouldn't their F.O. be one of the worst (players they accept, lack of playoff appearances)?

Dallas defense is going to be better they drafted well in 2017. But yes their receiving corps is not good behind Bryant and Bryant is old and they don't have a receiving tight end. Elliott will likely be suspended long term for domestic abuse so it's feasible their defense will be better than their offense soon
