  • Giants' new weapons Evan Engram and Brandon Marshall stand out | Practice report

    http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2...rt_river_index

Excerpt: "In Monday's practice, the Giants' defense had the upper-hand in a two-minute drill. The offense got its revenge on Tuesday. Quarterback Eli Manning led the first-team offense to a touchdown and a two-point conversion at the end of Tuesday's practice. Geno Smith and Josh Johnson failed to score on their drives with the second- and third-team offenses, respectively. Here's the full report on Tuesday's practice:

    THE HEADLINE
It wasn't just the fact that Giants' starting offense got into the end zone in the two-minute drill at the end of Tuesday's practice. It was the players who were involved that should lead to excitement.

Here was the situation: The offense had the ball at the opposing 49-yard line with 50 seconds remaining, one timeout and an eight-point deficit.

After running back Shane Vereen dropped a pass on first down, Manning hit Odell Beckham Jr. for a first down. Manning then connected with rookie tight end Evan Engram up the seam for a touchdown. Engram's speed was on display, as he raced past middle linebacker B.J. Goodson and was hit in stride by Manning's pass.

Manning then hit wide receiver Brandon Marshall for the two-point conversion. Marshall put a wicked double move on cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who fell as he bit on a Manning pump-fake. Marshall broke back toward the sideline and easily hauled in the pass.

Engram making a play down the middle of the field and Marshall coming through in the end zone is exactly what the Giants envisioned when they added both players this offseason. Engram and Marshall add dimensions that were painfully lacking from the offense last season." Read more...

Now isn't this better than making up a non existent "three headed RB monster?"
This is something we can actually chew on.
No one remembers who came in second.

        How about "Triple U"?

That works but I prefer TD to Engram with a 2pt conversion to Marshall as real plays during live practice.

It's been a long time since we've had height. Can't wait to see some green zone passes

Can we just cut geno and Johnson and let Webb do his thing?

I think their thought process is to take "real" time with Webb. Let him just concentrate in developing and not playing in games right now.

That roster spot can be better used, besides, if Eli gets hurt......Johnson and Smith are not Jeff Hostetler.

It sounds good but can it give results in a game. I need to see the O-line play. It is easy to score without DEs bearing down. I hope we have 2 book-ends with our tackles and not dead-ends.

Yes Barden has been gone for several years!
Hoping that Marshall delivers to his full capacity.

I'd like to hear that over and over during the Season. Manning TD pass to Engram down the Seam!!!
Football has been very, very good to us.
After losing seasons 2013-15, the giants put up 11 wins in 16.. they are on way Back
But for now we can console ourselves with this fact-

                        # of Super Bowl victories since 1985:

1-Chicago, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, Indianapolis, New Orleans, Seattle
                        2-Washington, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Baltimore
                        3-San Francisco, Dallas, Denver
                        4-New York Giants!!!
                        5-NE
Let's make it 5 in 2016 so we can be on a LINE NE again!!!

It has a very nice ring to it. ...and if we can get that going it will pinch the safeties providing room on the outside which will lead to more fun........so long as we can keep Eli upright.

I can't believe that we have a TE that is faster than Odell. It's going to be fun to watch this year. So many weapons. If the OL get their heads out of their ***** I like our chances.

Giving Eli another second or two more then he had last year is the key to the whole thing
