  • Wow, I did not realize. RE: Giants / 49ers NFC championship

Did not realize that we had Strahan on the sideline the entire game. Super cool to see the interactions. Sights and sounds video in case anyone else didn't see it. This is the first time I have seen it.

Video is probably NSFW. All profanities are bleeped out, but they are pretty frequent.

    Enjoy!

I still remember when the FOX panel was there doing their picks for the game. Strahan was ahead and Terry picked the 49ers. If Strahan picked SF, he would have been guaranteed to win their little betting contest (the only way he could lose was if he picked the Giants and they lost). Strahan rightly decided to "**** that noise" and picked the Giants anyway.

I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite team in the NFL.

Also, on a serious note -- that "no advancing a muffed punt" rule is completely ridiculous. Didn't we only wind up getting 3 out of that turnover instead of 7?

I believe the Giants scored a TD on that drive on Manningham's post route.

Thanks for clarifying. Could not remember.

Either way that rule makes no sense to me.

Didn't they blow the play dead, though? We needed to challenge to get the ball.

No we got 7 (the Manningham TD), which put us ahead by 3. SF scored a FG late in the 4th to send it to overtime. The 2nd muff (which was really a forced fumble by JWill) led to a FG, but since it was overtime and both teams had already had at least one drive (I think it was 3 apiece by that point), it was sudden death, so the FG was what we needed.

There was no challenge. The play was whistled dead (whether or not it was a muff, the moment someone from the punting team picks up the ball, the play is dead). There was a booth review to determine whether or not the ball actually touched Kyle's knee, but no challenge.

                      Yep.

Strahan was on the sidelines along with Richy Seubert and Mark Bavarro. Honorary captains for he day.
