Justin Tuck to New York Giants’ Rookies: “You’re Going to Work Your *** Off”

        May 19th, 2013 at 11:30 AM
By Dan BentonNew York Giants defensive captain Justin Tuck has vowed to return to his All Pro level in 2013 and it has already become abundantly clear that he's not just blowing smoke. He's worked relentlessly throughout the offseason and expects that to wear off on his teammates and the new rookies.
Shortly after being drafted in the third-round of the 2013 NFL Draft, Damontre Moore was promptly met with a note from Tuck that simply read "hope you are ready to work."
The message wasn't meant as a joke or a gag; Tuck is extremely serious about the upcoming season and he expects the rookies, who he feels are the weak link right now, to familiarize themselves with the team, the schemes and their jobs. On top of that, he expects them to work just as hard as he's working.
"They need to know that this year has to be our best year," Tuck said. "I don’t want to call them our weakest link but they are the new guys so they don’t know our system, how we get down. So right now they are our weakest link and you are only as strong as your weakest link."
Moore was quick to admit that his practice habits were less than stellar, but Tuck's note made it immediately clear that will not fly in New York. Accordingly, Moore has vowed to make his weakness a strength — something that will make Tuck and head coach Tom Coughlin very happy people.
Of course, this hard work has less to do with hazing rookies than it does getting back to where Tuck feels the Giants need to be.
"I want those guys to come in with the attitude knowing that this year is all about working," Tuck said. "It is not about what we have done or haven’t done. It is a brand new year and instill in them early that this team is going to work our *** off to get back to where we feel we should be — a consistent football team that makes the playoffs and wins the last game."
The motivation, determination and projected grind have not scared off any of the rookies, who have all agreed with Tuck, claiming they're ready for a long summer.

So, will Tuck not be gasping for air in the 2nd half of games now on the sidelines chewing his mouth peice? Put your money where your mouth is Tuck, not sure our rookies were the weakest link last year...

Life is like a Giants game, you never know what you are going to get.

Tuck said last off-season he did some things differently, and didn't train as hard in the off-season as he did in years past. This off-season he's been training like crazy and living in the weight room according to reports and his twitter. I hope he regains his form and has a great year

Oh no! Is this Tuck talking to much again? Guess he wasn't supposed to say this right? Why try to be a team leader and welcome in the rookies? What does this up know? So what he was heir best defensive player in two Super Bowls.

Talk is cheap, play the games JT. I can take no more than 15 threads on the same general topic before the top of my head blows off. Enough!

JT needs to stop getting drawn into this stuff and focus on results, not yammer.
