  • why has Eli Manning never improved his qb mechanics and fundamentals in his 14 years in the league?

still throwing off his backfoot and throwing high as a 14 year veteran

imagine if he didn't have the manning last name. would the media still be so easy on him?

If his last name wasnt Manning, be would be praised even more so for his 2 Sb's and 2 SB MVPS

His name hurts him more than helps him

I dont understand how he fumbles so easy. That was the softest sack tackle and he still fumbles inside the 20 only up 2 late in the game. Why is no one ripping him for that? We rip RBs all the time when they fumble. That fumble is worse than his INTs
Jerry Reese is burying this team in a premature grave

Because it was a meaningless game as both teams seasons were done. I for one was not upset with the loss because the season is lost, especially after the injuries. But Eli has always had a tendency to fumble very easy. He is who he always has been. Consistently incosistent and clutch. Best thing that could have happened to the Giants at that point was to lose that game

TC benched RBs when they fumbled no matter who they were but somehow the double standard doesn't seem to apply to Eli even if we had another guy to put in..

It was an awful fumble don't get me wrong but go back and watch it if u can stomach it.

Eli lands atop the defender bosa iirc. Bc a person is not ground lol and not hard like it Eli like bounced off the defender. That bounce like discombobulated his limbs check it out..it was super soft fumble but it was flukey eli actually tucked the ball away fundamentally correctly. If he didn't he prob doesn't fumble bc it was him trying to secure it that made the ball fumble out when he bounced atop bosa. Fluke type play.

reason most aren't blasting him is bc he had no wr left and odb just happened everyone was flabbergasted and more importantly he isn t supposed to be sacked. Yeah he fumbled but fumbled bc the OL disintegrated instantly and he got sacked. Terrible timing that seems about right for us. Go check it again.

Eli is not the reason they lost that game sunday. Did the fumble hurt them? Yes but if the defense makes a stop they win the game.

Name another coach who benched his franchise QB for fumbling.

Not true at all, do you think he would have been the 1st overall pick if his name was Eli Smith?

                    +1

I used to entertain different opinions/perspectives and such on here. I'm over that since essentially what we are now seeing are a bunch of fans with extremely limited knowledge of the game reacting to us being 0-5, it's hilarious and sad all at the same time.

How does not being 1st overall pick hurt? If anything it's better since you're not being drafted by the worst team. Furthermore, what bearing does his draft position have on his success in the NFL aside from what I stated above?

He actually had a pretty solid gritty game. He was hit 12x. That sf nfcg he was hit 19x iirc? Just to contrast it. Sacked 5x. San Diego has 1 of the best pass defenses and we saw why yesterday imo and eli still made sick throws into pretty impossible windows.

the 2 td passes he had were sick. Just sick. Those 2 plays were as good a play any qb made this week. Both were insane plays and it's lost in the shuffle.

what hurt us is the d cannot make stops. When they do it's always in goal to go bc they clamp down well in the redzone bc Collins can serve as a lb or safety when the field is shortened whereas when there's a lot of field he can get exposed in coverage at times.

The Eli apologists are hilarious making up stuff. He got gracefully dragged down and landed on a feather pillow and still fumbles. Terrible ball security and the importance of the time and location of the fumble was the absolute worst. Disgusting.

Odell just blew his ankle out and broke it because Eli cant throw a simple slant without making the WR have to jump 10 ft to get it and sacrifice his body. Nice clean pocket with time and he throws that crap and its season over Odell.

Look at that Oline break down and make Eli throw the terrible pass. No wait, he just didnt set his feet and fired one of his patented terrible high passes to destroy another WR/TEs career. This is why he never was a great QB. Ever. He just isnt. Bad foot work. Terrible clock awareness. Awful ball security.

But people ohhhh and aaahhhhh over a few deep passes he throws into a bucket.

Never said being the 1st overall pick was a bad thing. My point to the member I quoted was that being a Manning helps, that's a fact. Did Eli put the hard work in and earn a spot to get drafted high? Absolutely, but it helps having a last name as Manning. His father was a great quarterback for lousy teams, and his brother as well know will go down as one of the best to play the position.
Point is, his last name helped him not hurt him.
This is a tough town, Simms got booed in 79, and before Manning Simms was regarded as the best to play the position in this franchise.
