• Why shocked? If Toomer was overlooked his best year Y not Cruz?

Just sad really. I remember having that argument on the forums before. Saying the year that Toomer hit 1300+ yards, he should have been selected to the Pro-bowl and wasn't.

So history repeats itself with Cruz.

Surprised Eli made it, considering he wasn't even in the top 100 players last year lol. Guess they did not want to look like complete morons.

It's a popularity contest and unfortunately for Cruz he isn't that popular. He just arrived on the scene this year.

Cruz was selected as a second alternate, as was See

Cruz was screwed because he wasn't a "starter" at the beginning of the season and wasn't on the ballot. Never mind Tim Tebow was on it. Cruz essentially lost 1/3 of potential votes. It just kind of shows you how great a season JPP has had.

Calvin Johnson, Steve Smith, Larry Fitz, Greg Jennings...

Who are you taking off? Those are 4 worthy pro bowlers as well.

if Jordy Nelson is an alternate then If the Packers make the super bowl Cruz will be in the pro bowl

Why is it surprising, he is the main reason why this team isnt the NFC version of the Colts. He made the pro bowl bc he deserved it and the majority of the year, he has been playing like a..... pro bowler

Actually, he was never listed as a starter.

Our starting team consists of 2 Wrs and a FB, not 3 wrs. Its a dumb formality.

Imho they shouldnt even take a fullback to the pro bowl. Or, at the very least they should take the most vote getter between the FBs, H-backs and 3rd Wrs.

A majority of teams in the NFL dont even use a fullback anymore.
Both Cruz and Nicks had better years stats wise than Jennings has. The argument for Jennings apparently was, "well he did good for missing some games".

Uhm, what about Nicks last year?

It's great that Eli and JPP got Pro Bowl nominations but the whole process is still a joke.

Edit: Hell, even GB's own Jordy Nelson had a better year than Greg Jennings and he got snubbed too.

probowl is ingeneral a crap popularity contest but is done on a yearly performance basis - or should be. That top 100 poll obviously was not a one year thing, but an evaluation of the career of the individual. totally different.

If GB goes to the SB then Cruz will be on the team. If the Giants go then Cruz will not care. Cannot argue with Johnson or Fitzgerald or for that matter with Smith, but there was no way a Packer was not going to make it. Cruz is exciting and belongs with the first 3, hopefully if the NYG do not go to the SB the Packers do & Cruz wins.

Lets be honest, Jennings is a better WR then Nicks or Cruz.
Career wise? No doubt but you're not supposed to consider previous accomplishments for a recent Pro Bowl. Adrian Peterson didn't get nominated but he's arguably the best RB in the league.

Here are the following NFC receivers with more yards than Jennings that didn't get into the Pro Bowl. I'll add TD's also to give more perspective:

                          Victor Cruz (1358) (8)
                          Roddy White (1227) (8)
                          Hakeem Nicks (1116) (6)
                          Jordy Nelson (1101) (12)
                          Marques Colston (998) (6)

                          Greg Jennings (949) (9)

Is one more touchdown really more valuable than 400+ extra yards? The fact is one of his own guys had better yards and more TD's yet got snubbed. It's another case of the fans just voting for the big name and not doing research.

If it had anything to do with the Career it would have been different, well at least w/ppl that at least had half a brain.
