  • The Salary Cap Dilemma - People Need To be Cut To Upgrade The Offensive Line

I don't know how accurate that is but they are saying we have about 22 million in cap space.

The following players are free agents in 2018:
    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/new-york-giants/

Several of them can be cut. The most noticeable one would be Shane Vereen. But look at the massive problem we have with our offensive line. Both Weston Richburg and Justin Pugh (our best offensive linemen) are free agents. Both of them will get paid a multi million dollar contract (Justin Pugh's obviously being the larger of the two). We are actually strapped for cash in 2018 to build our line. Some big name players most likely need to be cut to free some space (Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie seems a strong possibility).

If we were to select someone with the 2nd pick in the draft that player would most likely sign a 30 million dollar contract (recent history says that's how much a 2nd pick gets paid) that would add a cap hit of several million (it would make that player the 7th highest paid player on the team). If we traded back to lets say pick 5 or 6, the contract would be about 22 million to that player.

It will be interesting what the Giants decide to do. If they want to build this offensive line they are going to have to spend $$$ since offensive linemen are among the highest paid players in the league. High end left tackles are getting paid over 10 million a year:
    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/tackle/

Guards are also getting paid very close to left tackles now:
    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/rankings/average/guard/

The highest paid offensive lineman on the Giants is Ereck flowers and John Jerry is slightly behind him. What do you think? Who do you think the Giants should resign? (Pugh, Richburg, D.J. Fluker, Jonathan Casillas, Keenan Robinson, Ross Cockrell, Orleans Darkwa... those are the big name free agents).

Also does anyone notice how weird it looks to have Rhett Ellison being the 7th highest paid player on our team right now? Evan Engram is the 12th highest paid player. To have two TEs getting paid that much money just looks odd. Rhett Ellison isn't even being used nearly as much as Engram. He was signed to patch our offensive line. Sort of like someone using duck tape to fix a leaky faucet rather than replacing the whole ruptured joint.

Cut Marshall, cut Harris, restructure DRC.

Is possible to restructure Eli and trade him. (If Sam Bradford brought back a #1 then Eli might fetch at least a #2).

IMHO....don't put too much thought into the cap unless discussing extreme debt or extreme cap space. It is way too complex to even discuss given the small amount of factual information provided. When talking numbers, the smallest misinformation or inaccuracy can mean millions.

Near that entire list can walk. I see 5 or 6 players I'd try to keep. We need players to earn their spot, not have it handed to them by lack of competition.

A contract that needs to be restructured or terminated if possible would be jpp. Im so sick of no heart and lack of motivation on this team. Get rid of all players who don't deserve to wear s Giants jersey and start over just like the coaching. No exceptions

When you win only 3 games, who cares who leaves. Addition by subtraction!
Players come and go on the Free Agency Merry-Go-Round, but the N.Y. Giants will always be here!

                    OL DJ Fluker
                    CB Ross Cockrell

Vernon and JPP should be arrested for theft. They robbed the Giants blind with their salaries. That is an incredibly high price for mediocrity.

Possibly Eli Manning could restructure his contract. No way in hell would JPP do it. If you've ever listened to him in an interview, that guy's life sounds like it revolves around money.

He has trouble picking up fumbles off the ground because he doesn't have two full hands. It was like the Giants were showing their loyalty by giving him that massive contract. They had given him the franchise tag for several years, so the Giants would have looked bad if they didn't resign a guy who blew half of his hand off. I wasn't a big fan of resigning since he's now playing with a HANDicap (see what I did there ;-)

I'd love to see JPP dominate in 2018. It doesn't help the defense when your offense is constantly coming off the field forcing your defense to do all the work. I'll give them a pass in 2017 because our offense was non-existent.

You can't cut JPP the cap hit would be more money than we have to spend. Neither can we cut Vernon, Jenkins, or Snacks for that matter. These all our are highest paid players along with Eli.
