  • Thank God I'm Not the GM

The team needs to make a lot of changes to become competitive over the next few years. Here are some key changes I would make. The idea is to move away from monstrous contracts that do not fit into the plans of the future. If any of those players can be moved for draft picks, all the better. Money amounts after player name are the dead money for each player if cut.

    Pre-June 1 Cuts/Trades:
    Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie 2m
    Brandon Marshall 1m
    Dwayne Harris 1.6m

    Post-June 1 Cuts/Trades:
    Eli Manning 6.2m 2018, 6.2m 2019
    Janoris Jenkins 2m 2018, 4m 2019
    Rhett Ellison 3.275m 2018, 1.5m 2019

    2019 Performance Based Cuts/Trades:
    Jason Pierre-Paul
    Olivier Vernon
    John Jerry
    Brad Wing

I would even consider trading Odell away depending on where I thought the team was. Why overpay for a receiver if you have no OL/QB to help him be productive.

      Marshall
      Jerry
      Wing
      Yes go away....
The rest I keep but somehow try to renegotiate JPP and Vernon
"Sir, I was wondering: did you happen to catch the professional football contest on television last night?"
      "No...I didn't."
"Oh it was most exhilarating: the Giants of NY took on the Packers of Green Bay and in the end the Giants triumphed by kicking an oblong ball made of pigskin through a big H. It was a most ripping victory."

Olivier Vernon was in top in QB pressures in 2016, was struggling with injuries this year. He is effective against the run and usually has great edge discipline. Reese brought him in for those reasons.

            I wish I was gm.
I made countless predictions based on analyzing the roster and have a high success rate in making the right predictions for years. I gave Eli tips on how to improve his play in 07. I sent him advice on how to improve his performance in a letter I sent to him before the Giants play the Pats in the last regular season of the 07 Season. He did what I wanted him to do leading the Giants to Superbowl victory.

Why would they give up guaranteed money?
Deny everything. Admit nothing. Make counter accusations.

Yeah, this team is in need of a lot of work. Grabbing an OL or 2 in FA is not going to make this team a contender. I am a firm believer in building through the draft and if the Giants can move assets that don't figure into the long term future, they should.

Its a balance between the long term and short term and fitting into this years budget. Richburg and Marshall are no brainers for cuts. Protecting the QB and the run game is a must. This team has TE's now so that's handled I even believe the RB situation is serviceable as well. WR's are good probably a #2 WR FA might be in order. Oline , LB's more DE's for pressure would be my focus. JPP where stuck with so we should rotate more pass rush specialists on his side as JPP has lost that element. Special teams are not special that needs to be worked on as well. Drafting correctly cures many problems and the decision to draft a QB with #2 is the question. Otherwise I am all for Oline all the way.

fans don't have the patience to wait for their team to build through the draft, FA is a lot quicker but far more expensive....
